It all started at the Pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza on
Dick's birthday. And we went down inside a pyramid into the tombs. The step
pyramid is the oldest. Armed guards were
everywhere! . We spent the first
three nights around Cario. Did a side trip to Alexandria where we had police siren
escort and armed Army troops guarding us! Went down ito the catacombs and visited Pompey's Pillar. See the guy to
the left - see how big the pillar is! Some
beautiful Cario apartment buildings!
Went to the giant Mosque . Then we boarded our boat
for the next three nights cruising down the Nile river. It was really pretty and the Nile is very clean! We
went to Karnak, the largest temple. It is VERY HUGE!
and then to Luxor Temple
with the giant statues of Ramses II. Ahab and Cleopatra celebrated their 39th
anniversary on the boat. . We went to the Valley of the Queens and the
temple of Hatshepsut the only female
pharoah. Then the Valley of the kings where we went down into tombs . We stopped at Edfu to see the Temple of Horus .
We left the boat at Aswan where we visited the temple of Isis . We flew from Aswan to Abu Simbal and back to see the two temples
there, Ramses and his wife Neferteri .
After we left Egypt we stopped off Friday and Saturday night in Athens Greece.
The view from our hotel was awesome .
We did a half day tour and visitied the Parthenon .
Walking around the Plaka area was really fun and the food was to die for! Egypt did
not have much good food but Greece made up for it. All too quickly it was over but
the memories will last a lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
