~ Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick, and think of you.

Bright azure eyes swept over the shadowed white ceiling slowly taking in its every curvature. Insomnia plagued the small figure and no amount of trying brought sleep to ease the troubled thoughts. The head turned to cast the sparkling aqua eyes toward the window. Moonlight spilled over him, highlighting his platinum blonde hair, frail frame and pale skin. Slowly he moved to lace slender elegant fingers beneath his head. The stars reflected clearly in his eyes as a small delicate smile spread over his elfin face. “Well, Heero Yuy, you have made it into my thoughts once more and stole away precious minutes that I needed for sleep.” His small and gentle voice floated about the room in unison with the constant tick of the bedside clock.

~ Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new.

Sitting on a patio chair, his brilliant blue eyes ran over the other present leaning silently against the railing of the balcony. He observed that he looked quite nice in the Sanq School uniform. A small giggle slipped from his lips causing Heero to raise his eyes to the fair Arabian. “Nani?” the deep tenor sent chills through his body as he choked off the last of the urge to laugh.

“It’s nothing Heero.” Looking away, his eyes caught sight of a few girls on a distant balcony gazing dreamily at Heero as well. He smiled brightly and turned back to the dark haired pilot. “It’s nice not having to worry about fighting for the moment.”

The cobalt eyes ran over the small flaxen haired pilot. “Quatre...” He cut short then threw his gaze back out onto the horizon. “Hn.” Quatre quivered. The silence was so intense, but these confusing quirks from the Wing pilot ceased to surprise him. Sitting back, he smiled softly. It felt safe and warm, just having Heero there.

~ Flash back, warm night, almost left behind.

Elegant slender fingers ran over the ivory white keys of a glossy black piano. Quatre’s eyes were closed in an attempt to lose himself in the melody he pounded out irrationally on the defenseless instrument. His eyes burned beneath the eyelids, but he fought the moisture, desperate to not cry. If it wasn’t insomnia from thinking about Heero, it was nightmares about trying to kill Trowa. Images slid through his mind and he pounded the keys harder. “No! Stop! I... Can’t!” Quatre jumped backward as he felt hands gripping his shoulders firmly. He felt his body hit something warm, yet solid and firm. Blinking he opened his eyes and looked straight into the deep sea of prussian.

“Quatre... Genki da na?” Heero spoke slowly with a steady tone as he held the fair blonde to him for comfort and support. He watched the other gaze at him in surprise and allowed his lips to curl slightly into a smile.

He made movements to move away and Heero reflexively held to him. “Good...” The blonde sighed softly then leaned into the Wing pilot once more and soon drifted off into peaceful slumber. A rare smile graced Heero’s stern features as he slowly lifted the frail boy and carried him to his bed. Pulling the covers over Quatre, he paused and brushed his fingertips over his soft cheek. “Sleep well fair one.”

~ Suit case of memories... Time after time...

Quatre ran his hands over the smooth cherry surface of the large desk in the Winner Corporations main office. A sigh escaped his lips as he pictured the last time he saw Heero. The sleek maroon and black Gundam named Epyon held the one precious boy at that time. A machine that held the one thing Quatre feared most. Zero System. True, he had no doubts that Heero could figure out the system, and he had strong faith that if anyone can survive it was him, but deep in his mind he still worried. Leaning forward, he placed a hand to his forehead and closed his eyes. “Please...” his voice was barely a whisper “Don’t leave me with only memories.”

~ Sometimes you picture me, I’m walking too far ahead.

Heero ran a finger slowly over the icy metal of Wing Zero and gazed at it blankly. Closing his eyes he pictured the time he first saw this very Gundam and felt the quiver in his chest. He had threatened to take the young blonde’s life that time. Wondering silently to himself, he felt his stomach knot up. He couldn’t picture life without Quatre. No, he couldn’t hope that he could amount to what the Arabian needed, but he wouldn’t allow for anyone to take his life either. He would rather die than let the gentle hearted pilot to die. How sad it seemed, that he couldn’t show his feelings to Quatre. Pressing his hand fully to the smooth gundanium he opened his eyes. There was one good thing about this monstrosity. Quatre made it.

~ You’re calling to me, I can’t hear what you’ve said.

Cold hands gripped the controls as heavy pools of sapphire stared at the vid screen. Hunched over in the pilot seat sat the fair blonde whom Heero had sworn never to let death touch. Fear crept into his eyes, as the Arabian made no motion to move. “Quatre? Genki da na?”

Slowly, the head rose to reveal crystalline turquoise narrowed in pain, but a soft elegant smile still held firmly onto his fair face. “Hai, Heero-kun.” The eyes softened slightly as they looked upon the pilot of Wing Zero. “Heero-kun, please, wait for us. We need to stay together. I need you.”

Heero’s eyes widened. Had Quatre meant that last sentence? Shaking his head roughly, a cold glare swept across his face. “No one needs me.” With those words he switched off the comm just as the other moved to reply. Closing his eyes tightly he let the cold of space sink through him. “You can’t hear what I’m not saying... and I can hold out long enough.”

~ You said, “Go slow, I fall behind.” The second hand unwinds...

Quatre ran through the hallways quickly in search of some thing. Or was it some one? His heart drummed against his delicate chest as he agonized over each deep intake of breath. Resounding ahead of him were the very footsteps he ached and yearned to catch, but each moment they slipped farther away. The azure eyes hid behind eyelids shutting off his vision. In that moment he tripped and tumbled down the hard and cruel corridor. Lying still for the moment, he felt the tears build. One small fist pounded against the floor as he cursed his weakness. “I’ll never catch up to you Heero Yuy.”

“You really think so?” Quatre looked up quickly into prussian eyes he sought so hard to catch. Heero smiled slightly and picked the small boy up and set him to his feet. “Why didn’t you call to me?”

“Because I thought you wouldn’t hear.” Heero looked away then nodded. Turning his azure eyes away as well, sadness slipped into his countenance.

“Let’s keep moving.” The blonde nodded so Heero turned and ran onward. Swallowing hard, Quatre swore to himself that no matter how hard he had to run, he’d keep up with Heero, and one of these days, he would catch him instead of Heero always saving him.

~ If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me, Time after time.

Heero gazed up at the night sky with intensity. Giving up Wing Zero had been extremely hard on him, but it needed to be done. He trusted Quatre to hold to his word. Had anyone else asked him to hand over his Gundam he would never have agreed. Slipping his hands into his pockets he began to walk through the chill of the approaching winter. He’d never been on earth during the Christmas season, nor had he even heard of Christmas till just recently. In some ways he was curious, where in others he felt the holiday useless. Stopping, he gazed at the ground. “Demo... I’ve wished to see what it’s like to celebrate with someone you truly care about.” Once more he looked at the stars and within their sparkling beauty he saw Quatre’s kind and beautiful face.

Heero jumped suddenly as a hand rested softly on his shoulder. Spinning about he came eye to eye with the boy that plagued his thoughts night and day. Quatre giggled softly, “Heero-kun, Duo-chan told me I’d find you here.” He smiled brightly causing Heero to try and smile back. “It’s getting cold out here. Let’s go inside. Duo-chan and I will be leaving soon. I want you to be there when I leave.”

With a slight nod Heero’s eyes lit up. He somewhat envied Duo for being the first to volunteer to go with the Arabian up into space to see the Gundams off. They started to walk back and Quatre began to shiver. Heero studied him quietly. “Are you cold?”

“Yes. I’m still not used to such cool temperatures.” He made a small scowl which made Heero chuckle. “What? Did I say something?” Heero shook his head and put an arm about Quatre’s thin waist. A light red flared into the pale cheeks, and no other word was spoken.

~ If you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting, Time after time.

A soft beep followed by a hollow hum brought the dark haired boy to consciousness. “It’s here.” Looking at the screen, Heero caught sight on the radar, the pod rocketing toward his shuttle. “Quatre, you’re unbelievable sometimes, with the perfect timing.” He smiled slightly then made his way to the hatch and leaped toward the pod as the two crafts crossed each other’s paths. As he climbed into the pod, he ran his cold fingers over the controls. It was like being welcomed home again. “Hello, old friend.” A blinking beacon of red light flashed on the control panel, catching his eye. “Hm?”

He touched a few keys as the vid screen popped up to reveal the fair Sandrock pilot. “Heero, I hope that Zero got to you in time. I made a few checks quickly to make sure it is in perfect working order.” The blonde paused then pressed a hand to the screen. Reflexes caused him to press his hand upon the screen as well as he waited for the blonde to continue. “Please, come back alive. I’ll be waiting for you.”

A burning sensation crawled into the corners of his cobalt eyes as the screen flickered and vanished. “I’ll live through this.... If you do.”

~ I turn, my picture fades, and darkness has turned to gray.

Quatre sat in the cockpit of Sandrock gazing at the broken scimitar in the Gundam’s hand. “Dear Sandrock... we must make it through this somehow.” The large Gundam stumbled backward raising it’s shield to block more oncoming bullets. “Are we going to make it?” The vid screen appeared to his right to show Duo’s bright and smiling face.

“We have to Q-man. Otherwise other people will have to die.” Duo strained to keep a steady voice as Trowa’s face appeared in a box beside him.

“Quatre, don’t give up. There are things worth protecting. You know that as well as I do.” Trowa half smiled at the blonde then turned his head to look at his other screen of Duo. “We have to do this together.”

“I know. I’m with you guys all the way.” Quatre couldn’t smile no matter how hard he tried. Too many thoughts clouded his mind. Duo looked at him a moment then looked at Trowa who smiled at him.

“Q-man. I know you’re worried about Hee-chan, but you know he’ll be fine. He can live through anything.” Duo smiled reassuringly and Quatre nodded.

“I know Duo-chan. I know.”

“Come on now Q-man! Tro-kun and I are behind you all the way!” Quatre giggled slightly then nodded again. The time had come and he needed to carry on, for the people, for his comrades, for Heero, and for himself.

~ Watching through windows, you’re wondering if I’m ok.

Struggling with all his might Heero held the double Buster Rifle steady. He felt Zero’s screams of agony as pieces of armor crumbled from its mighty body, descending agelessly to the ground below. Narrowing his eyes he switched off all communications with Mariemaia’s command center. Unexpectedly another vid screen popped up, and there he saw the pale and angelic face of Quatre. “Quatre...” The elegant face was twisted with threads of pain, fear, and agony. The control panel fizzled slightly as the sound function threatened to go out. Heero’s eyes grew wide as Quatre slid a finger down the screen. Heero knew without a doubt that Quatre could feel his pain right on top of his own and it angered him. He wished he could turn the comm off but the Rifle required both of his hands. “Heero-kun... I...” He studied the screen as the sound function dwindled away. Quatre kept talking though and Heero read the mouthed words carefully. The soft rose colored lips mouthed three words he only wished he would hear. “I love you.”

~ Secrets, stolen, from deep inside, The drum beats out of time...

Quatre sat amongst the Magunac Corp. smiling as they congratulated him on the success of their final battle. Sandrock... Zero.... DeathScythe Hell... Heavy Arms.... Altron.... All of the Gundams were now gone. He felt as if a piece of him was missing, but it was a worthy price to pay for the total peace of the Earth. The only thing that truly weighed heavily on his mind, were the thoughts of the one boy he finally confessed his love to. True, the confession was spur of the moment, but after long hours of thought, he knew it to be completely true. Rashid watched the small blonde closely then gripped his shoulder reassuringly. “Quatre-sama. I’m sure you will see the young lad again.” The azure eyes gawked at the larger man a moment.

“How...?”

Rashid laughed a deep and hearty laugh as he patted the blonde’s head. “It’s obvious. I can see it written in your eyes.” Quatre blushed as Rashid walked away from him dragging the Magunacs with him so Quatre could have time to think.

Quatre smiled softly then began to type on his computer slowly, his mind completely caught up in thoughts of Heero. Soon a small flashing in the corner of the screen caught his eyes and dragged him from his thoughts. “Hm?” He clicked on the light and an email message appeared that consisted of two words, and a name at the bottom.

Find me. -Heero

The Arabian smiled and nodded then added with a soft giggle, “Ninmu ryoukai.”

~ If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me, Time after time.

Heero sat on a bench just outside of the school grounds. He held his laptop in his lap trying his best not to see or attract any of the students of his school. A deep quivering feeling of loneliness crept into his heart, but he refused to shiver. Emotions were not thought highly of in his mind. Though, this emotion punched through much harder than others, because they sprung from the one thing that made him feel human again. Quatre Raberba Winner. Leaning back he removed his eyes from the glowing screen to look up at the deep blue sky. It was the same color as his eyes. Hadn’t Quatre gotten his message yet? Did he really love him like he had said? Or perhaps, did Heero only imagine those words that night? It was possible. Heero so desperately wanted to hear the blonde say that to him it hurt.

~ If you fall I will catch you, I’ll be waiting, Time after time.

The Arabian took small slow steps toward the Japanese boy sitting on the bench. Occasionally a student would stop him and ask if he was new, only to frustrate him deeply. All he wanted to do was kiss the boy that sat in solitude and hold him close. He didn’t want only memories to hold on to. He wanted Heero. Soon the deep frustration shown on his normally gentle face and students would side step him. There was a deep agonizing pain in his chest the closer he walked toward the dark haired boy. His azure eyes swept over his appearances as Heero leaned back to look at the sky. In that instant, Quatre swore he looked like an angel. Soon he came to a stop in front of Heero and simply looked at him quietly. A smile graced his elfin face as he spoke, “I found you Heero-kun.” The smile broadened as the Japanese boy looked at him with a snap of his head. “Ninmu kanryou.”

Heero’s mouth fell open slightly as the blonde began to giggle softly. In one swift movement, Quatre gently took the laptop from Heero and softly closed it with a click. Taking his hand tenderly, Quatre pulled Heero to his feet. He softly caressed Heero’s smooth cheek and sighed. “Quatre?”

“You called me, I came. What did you need me for?”

Heero gaped at him a moment then smiled his first true smile at the Arabian. “Did you really say...?” The deep voice faltered and faded away.

Quatre just smiled and moved closer to Heero and whispered in his ear. “I love you, Heero-kun.”

~ If you’re lost, you can look and you will find me, Time after time.

Heero’s cobalt eyes began to mist over as he gazed down at the blonde before him. Quatre kept the sweet smile in perfect position on his pale angelic face, making Heero feel weak in the knees as he replied to the small boy. “I love you too, Quatre.” The brilliant translucent turquoise eyes sparkled and danced as he slipped his strong arms about Quatre’s waist.

“You don’t care that people are watching?” Quatre’s eyes never left Heero’s as he spoke.

Chuckling softly, Heero moved closer and whispered against Quatre’s soft lips. “Let them watch.” Pressing his lips with slight timidity to Quatre’s, they kissed slowly, passionately, with an air of sacredness Quatre didn’t expect from the strong “perfect” soldier.

As the kiss slowed to an end, Heero pulled back just enough so he could speak. “Will you stay with me? Always?” His prussian eyes pleaded with Quatre in silent hope.

“Ofcourse. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

~ If you fall I will catch you, I will be waiting, Time after time.

Quatre sat perched elegantly on the window seat of their bedroom. Sunlight filtered through the panes of glass and kissed his pale skin, giving him the perfect angelic glow. Heero watched him from the doorway as he placed his violin beneath his chin and raised his other arm gracefully to slide it over the deeply polished instrument. A melody slipped from the stringed instrument that caressed and warmed Heero’s heart. Everyday was so beautiful and peaceful with Quatre around. His heart now finally knew how to smile, laugh, and love. Deep cobalt eyes glowed as he walked slowly over to the delicate musician. Without a word he slipped his arms about Quatre’s waist and kissed the curve of his neck.

The Arabian smiled, never opening his eyes, knowing his lover was the one that held to him so lovingly and possessively. He knew in his heart, that he wouldn’t have made it through these quiet and peaceful times without Heero. Without words, he thanked Allah for not leaving him with only memories. “Aishiteru Heero-kun.”

“Aishiteru Quatre.”
