Rose Garden Of The Heart

How dies the rose
when unnourished by the sun?
How dies the heart
when left cold from love?
Colour from the rose
fades with passing time.
Passion of the heart
fades with banishment from desire.
The sweet aroma of the rose
sours with its withering;
jsut as the sweetness of the heart
sours with the aching pain of loss.
And the beauty of the rose
decays as the days pass;
while the beauty of the heart
crumbles at loneliness where it lies.
But, alas, a simple day of warmth
from the sun or another heart ...
can touch the rose
and make it bloom once more ...
within the garden of the heart.
