Our first official playday was April 20, 1996. |
What is a Playday? It is a combination of horse and rider timed events. There are usually four events at each playday: Poles, Cloverleaf Barrels, Straight-away Barrels, and an optional Jackpot Race. Riders can ride for fun or compete in the playday. Riders must compete in his/her age group/class to receive points. Points are awarded on the basis of the rider's finish/place. Riders accumulate points for each event that they compete in. At the end of each playday and Money/Saddle/Buckle series, winners in each age group will receive an ALL-AROUND award on the basis of his/her accumulated points.

| GENERAL INFORMATION |
Location: All the playdays are held at Old City "Arena" Park in Friendswood, Texas unless posted differently.
Call before you haul, not a covered arena. After the playday starts, entries must be done during a drag. Regardless of age, contestants must show proof of age (birth certificate, driver's license, ID, etc.) at each playday or give STPA a copy to keep on file. It is also the contestant’s responsibility to bring proof of a Negative Coggins test for each horse to every show. There is no admission charge to watch.
Workers: Workers will only have to work one event for two age groups (9 & Under and 10-13 OR 14-18 and 19 & Over) OR one exhibition class. Workers will work either the entrance or exit gate. Workers who are working for two or more family members can help setup the equipment in the arena for Poles, Barrels, and Straights OR work twice.
Age Groups: 9 & Under; 10-13; 14-18; 19 & Over. Age is determined as of January 1, 2009.
Exhibitions: No age group. All exhibitions will be first, before each event.
For Pole exhibition/lead-line only: Entrance gate will be left open so riders can enter without a worker. No running in or out of alleyway/gate. If the entrance gate needs to be closed during the rider's exhibition/lead-line run, it will be the rider's responsibility to have someone do it for them. Riders will have an hour before the playday starts to ride exhibition/lead-line poles. Riders that have paid for pole exhibitions/lead-line will ride when ready. Rider's names will not be called, but times will be announced after each run. No refund will be given for pole exhibitions/lead-line not completed by the start of the playday.
For Cloverleaf Barrels and Straights exhibitions: The rider's name will be called and the gates will be closed.
Lead-line class: Lead-line for Poles will be ran with exhibition Poles an hour before the playday starts. The rider's name will not be called. Lead-line for Cloverleaf Barrels and Straights will be ran with the exhibitions and the rider's name will be called. Lead-line will be required to enter 2 or more events to receive an award.
