Tony Thompson

Tony Thompson was the lead singer for the musical group Hi-Five from 1990-1994. He was born on September 2, 1975 in Waco, Texas and raised in Oklahoma City. He started singing in church at the age of eight. He was noticed by a music producer that recruited him to record a demo with Roderick Clark, Russell Neal, Marcus Sanders and Toriano Easley.

The group was singed by Jive Records in 1990. Their self-titled album went multi-platinum with the hits-“I Like The Way”, “I can’t Wait Another Minute”, “Just Can’t Handle It” and “Just Another Girlfriend”. Featured on the album was Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister from Blackstreet.

Prior to the videos being made for the songs, the group lost Toriano Easley to a car accident that left him parlayed Treston Irby from The Bronx in New York. He appeared in the videos from the first album. Treston appeared on the second album-Keep It Goin’ On in 1992. It featured the hits-“She’s Playing Hard to Get”, “Quality Time” and “Unconditional Love”. This song was featured on the Menace to Society soundtrack while “Fly Away” was featured in the movie’s closing credits.

The final version of Hi-Five included Shannon and Terrence replacing Roderick Clark and Russell Neal. Faithful featured the hit song “Never Should Have Let U Go” that appeared on the Sister Act 2 soundtrack.

Tony received a solo record deal in 1995 on the Giant Record label. He released Sexsational that featured the hit “I Wanna Love Like That” and the sexually charged “Slave” produced by Jodeci’s Devante Swing.
