ELLIE CARTER BRAZDA, 99, born on August 26, 1899, at Selma,
MS, passed away March 22, 1999, at Dallas, TX.
Graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing at New Orleans,
LA, she was the first female anesthetist at Georgia Baptist
Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Preceded in death by parents,
Mary Elizabeth Johnson Carter and James Thomas Carter;
brothers J.T. Carter and William Merrill Carter; sisters,
Beaufort Carter Riordan and Sadie Carter Shields; daughter,
Patricia Yvonne Brazda and husband, Adolph W. Brazda, M.D.
Survivors at the time of her death include her daughter,
Beaufort Elaine Brazda Howe (RHS-1946) and son, A.W. Brazda
II (RHS-1954) & wife, Linda. Grandchildren, Susan Rebecca
Howe Rader, William Lawrence Howe and wife, Holly, Mary
Elizabeth Howe Winspear, Daniel Jonathan Howe and wife,
Julia, Katherine Lynn Brazda Kurtz and husband, Kevin,
and Cynthia Ann Brazda Horsburgh and husband, Richard.
Four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews
and their families.
Mrs. Brazda was a longtime Ranger resident where her husband
practiced medicine and owned the Brazda Clinic. She later
moved to Dallas to be close to family.
