LELA MAE GRIFFITH RODGERS, 74, passed away on January 16,
2008 at her home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at
Ranger, TX.
Lela was born in Pueblo, TX, on October 5, 1933 to
John (Leslie) and Ida Ruth (Gann) Griffith. She was
raised and attended school in Moran. She later met
and married Claude Audrey Rodgers (RHS-1943) in March
of 1955 in Ranger. In 1962 they made their home in the
Ranger community. Lela worked for Quality Food Market,
the Five & Dime, Ben Franklins, Ranger Athletic and
even a period of time at the Ranger Hospital. She
worked at Ranger School Cafeteria for 20 years. She
was always involved in the elections around Ranger
helping to count votes. She was a member of the
Second Baptist Church & was involved in the activities
there. She loved to sew and crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter
Delores, and a brother Gene.
She is survived by her husband Audrey; two daughters,
Linda Weeks and Nelda Poulson (RHS-1978); two sons, Roy
(RHS-1977) and Gilbert Rodgers (RHS-1980) both of Ranger;
a sister Betty Polk; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grand-
children with another on the way.
