LAMESA Old theater in Lamesa Remains of an old theater located on the south side of the square in downtown Lamesa. The five theaters that were in downtown at one time and all closed were the Majestic, Mesa, Palace, Tower, and Alameda.
LLANO - The Lantex Theater with seating for 400 is located on the Llano square. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and still features movies on the weekend. LOCKHART - Baker Theater is located on Main St. in downtown Lockhart and now used for live performances. LULING Stanley Theater in Luling The Stanley Theater opened in 1948 and closed in 1974. It is now an antique mall.
LUBBOCK - Cactus Theater opened in 1938 and was restored around 1995. It is now used for live productions. MARFA Palace Theater in Marfa The Palace Theater is closed. During the filming of the movie "Giant" near Marfa in 1955, this theater was used daily to review the picture. The movie "GIANT":Revisited
MARBLE FALLS - The Uptown Theater is located on Main Street in Marble Falls since 1942. It was completely refurbished in 2004 and re-opened as a live entertainment venue. MARSHALL Paramount in Marshall Paramount Theater in downtown Marshall (East Texas) is closed and vacant.
MASON - The Odeon Theater is now used by the Mason Country Opry. MESQUITE Mesquite Movie Theater in Mesquite The Mesquite Movie Theater is located in old downtown Mesquite and is now the Rodeo City Live Music Hall. It appears the front bricks have been replaced. A short distant from here is were Sam Bass robbed the train in 1878.
MINEOLA Select Theater in Mineola The 1920 Select Theater is in downtown Mineola and was renovated in 2001 with 248 new seats. It is used for live productions and first run films on the weekends. It maybe the oldest continuously operating movie theater in Texas. In 1998, it was designated a historical landmark.
McKINNEY Ritz in McKinney Ritz Theater is located on the square in downtown McKinney. It closed and was later converted to a small shopping mall.
McKINNEY Former Texas Theater in McKinney The Texas Theater near the square in McKinney is now a specialty shop.
MEXIA Mexia theater in Mexia Mexia Theater is in downtown Mexia and is now a church.
NACOGDOCHES Main theater in Nacogdoches The Main Theater in Nacogdoches is closed.
NAVASOTA Miller's Theater in Navasota Miller's Theater is located in downtown Navasota and still shows current movies.
NEW BRAUNFELS Brauntex theater in New Braunfels The Brauntex Theater in downtown New Braunfels is now used for live productions.
OVERTON - Overton Theater built around 1935 and closed in 1965, recently sold and being restored. PALESTINE Texas Theater in Palestine Texas Theater is located in downtown Rusk. Renovated and is now the Palestine Community Theater for live productions.
PARIS Plaza Theater in Paris Plaza Theater is located on Lamar Ave. in Paris and now used as a community theater for live productions.
PARIS Grand Theater in Paris Grand Theater is located off the downtown square on Lamar Ave. It has been closed for many years.
PECOS State Theater in Pecos State Theater is located in downtown Pecos. It's closed but will open soon.
PLAINVIEW - The renovated 1920 Fair Theater presents concerts, live productions, and beauty pageants. PORT LAVACA Port Lavaca Theater Port Lavaca Theater is in downtown Port Lavaca (South Texas). Built in 1936 and survived Hurricane Carla in 1961. It was restored and now used for the performing arts. POST Theaters in Post Garza Theater is located on Main St. in downtown Post (West Texas). It was built in 1916 as the Palace and closed in 1955. Thirty years later, the Garza opened as a performing arts theater. The Tower is another old theater in use and located on Main St. in Post.
