JERRY MALCOM JACKSON went to be with the Lord on
April 03, 2008. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery.
Jerry was born in Edgewood, the home of his maternal
grandparents, October 13, 1931 to Mr. and Mrs. W.R.
Jackson of Breckenridge. He graduated from Breckenridge
High School in 1950 and attended Texas Tech University.
Jerry was called to serve his country in Korea while at
school, but returned to finish his studies after dutifully
fulfilling his obligation to the U.S. Army. It was at
college where he met the love of his life and wife of 52
years, Marilyn Rae Coleman of Abilene. They were married
in Lubbock on January 21, 1956. Jerry received a Bachelor
of Science degree from Texas Tech University and a Master
of Science degree from Texas A&M University.
A life long farmer & rancher like his family before him,
professionally, Jerry was the Superintendent of Schools
for Moran ISD and Ranger ISD before retiring in the early
1990's to continue his true interest of raising livestock.
Jerry raised cattle, sheep, goats and the occasional horse
in Stephens & Eastland Counties his entire life.
Jerry was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Ranger,
served on the Ranger ISD School Board, the Ranger Historical
Association, helped raise funds for local students'
livestock sales, and shrived to lure jobs and industry
to Ranger. While a teacher and principal with Breckenridge
ISD, Jerry was heavily involved with 4-H and other community
organizations. His life was devoted to serving others, as
a soldier, teacher, public school administrator, and most
importantly as a wonderful role model for his family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father W.R. Jackson, his
brother Dr. Bill G. Jackson, and his first cousin Joe Lynch
Jackson, who was as close to Jerry's heart as a brother.
