BOONE YARBROUGH, 89, an assistant coach/
defensive coordinator for Ranger High School when
they won a State Championship in 1953, died at his
home in 1998. Interment was in Merriman Cemetery
near Ranger, TX.
Mr. Yarbrough was born in Weatherford and graduated
from Weatherford High School and East Texas State
Teachers College. He coached for Ranger College for
six years. Boone was a member of Retired Teachers
Association, Texas Junior College Associates, Texas
High School Coaches Association and First United
Methodist Church. He married Gussie Carroll in 1931
in Hugo, OK; she preceded him in death. He had a
son, Boone Carroll Yarbrough (RHS-1958).
