LOYD NELSON VALENTINE, 83, of Edgewood, TX passed
away on May 14, 2020 in Tyler, TX, with burial in
Bright Star Cemetery.
Loyd was born Sept. 19, 1936, to the late Woodie
O’Brien Valentine & Ollie Mae Nelson Valentine.
Loyd graduated from Edgewood High School and then
married the love of his life, Shirley Patterson,
in 1956 at Russell Memorial United Methodist
Church in Wills Point and they would have been
married sixty-four years this June.
Loyd was employed as an installer with Western
Electric, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He was
a lifetime member of the CWA Union, lifetime
member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a member
of the Masonic Lodge #928 in Mesquite since 1967.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodie
O’Brien Valentine & Ollie Mae Nelson Valentine;
nephews, Gary Rogers and Larry Lane; brothers-
in-law, Preston Lane, Cliff Gentle and Billy Joe
Rogers.
Loyd is survived by his wife, Shirley Valentine
of Edgewood; daughter, Karen Janell Wiggins and
husband John of Palmer; son, Kevin Valentine
and friend Kay Schafer of Hawkins; sisters, Ernest
Dean Lane of Wills Point, Bobby Lou Rogers of
Edgewood, and Rebble Lee Gentle of Edgewood;
grandchildren, Kristin Jones and husband Cody,
Bryan Patrick Wiggins, Kaitlin Wiggins, Christopher
Valentine and fiancé TaylorLass and Lauren Michelle
Valentine; great grandchildren, Brady Wessinger,
Josie Jones and Tessa Jones; & many other relatives
and friends.
