Dallas Works Memorial - Employees In Remembrance

Wayne Willis WAYNE BRADLEY WILLIS, former El Reno, OK, resident, died Apr. 20, 2009, at his home in Burneyville. Wayne was born July 24, 1935 at Ordway, CO, son of Otho and Effie Mae Bradley Willis. His father died on Dec. 1, 1944. Effie and Jim Wright were married in 1947, when Wayne was 12, and a sister, Donna Sue was born. Jim died on June 4, 1972 and Effie on Apr. 8, 1991. His brothers, Monty Jo Willis and Gary Willis also preceded him in death. At El Reno High School, he was an athlete participating in football, basketball and track, graduating in 1954. He was a member of the "Men of `54" his heart and spirit will always be with them. Wayne attended Oklahoma A&M on a football scholarship and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from Central State University. In Sept. of 1960, Wayne and Doris E. Horn were married at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Wayne began his career at the AT&T Oklahoma City Works in April of 1962. He remained in OK City until his transfer to Dallas Works in 1975. Wayne retired from AT&T after 27 years of service. He was an avid golfer and a member of Falconhead Chapel. Doris survives him. He is also survived by their two sons, Charles Don Willis of OKC and James Scott Willis and wife, Mary Lou, of Edmond sister, Donna Sue Blalock and husband, David, of Chickasha nephew, James David Bla-lock, wife, Jennifer and daughter niece, Amanda Cook, husband, Phillip, and son extended family, Jack Slaughter and wife, Raylene, and their family, Phil Slaughter, wife, Alexa and daughter, Stacy Mitscher, husband, Mike, & family.
