BETTY GWENDOLYN BARNES GOFORTH, 64, of Ranger,
died on November 25, 2001 at an Abilene hospital.
She was born on December 30, 1936 in Waco, TX, to
Joe Gillmer and Mabel (James) Barnes. She grew up
and attended school in Ranger and attended Ranger
College to receive her nursing certificate becoming
a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at Ranger
General Hospital and Eastland Memorial Hospital for
some 30 years. She lived most of her life in Ranger.
and was a member of the Merriman Baptist Church.
Survivors at the time of her death are two daughters,
Jean Flint of Trent and Ruth Brown of Eastland; one
brother, Gillmer Gordon "Bud" Barnes of Abilene; three
grandchildren, Jimmy Allen Brown of Abilene, Tania
Rachelle McCormic of Lakewood, NM, and Bryan Lee
Brown of Graham; 3 great-grandchildren, Tyler Shawn
and Brice Kellie McCormic and Zachary Austin Brown;
several nieces and nephews.
