JERRY E. DOBBS, 43, was born on Dec. 7, 1933 and
died on Dec. 12, 1976, in Houston, TX. He was
the son of Vinetta Dobbs of Ranger who later married
Joe Filmore Young & Jerry always considered Joe Young
as his father. He had two younger brothers, Johnny
D. Young (RHS-1958) and Joe Morris Young (RHS-1955).
He was married to Cecil Lynn Robinson (RHS-1954) and
they had four children, Karla Dobbs (RHS-1975), Mark
Dobbs (RHS-1976), Larry Dobbs, & Steve Dobbs (RHS-1981).
Jerry attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1951
at Ranger, TX. He served in the U.S. Air Force & after
his release became an Air Traffic Controller.
MOTHER: VINETTA DOBBS YOUNG, 95, of Ranger,
TX, passed away on Sept. 30, 2007, with burial at
Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
Vinetta was born on May 25, 1912, in Post, TX, to Joel
and Gertrude (Copeland) Young. She moved to Ranger
when she was 7 years old and attended Ranger schools.
Vinetta married Joe Young in August of 1936, and he
preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1988. She worked
for Hollywood Vasserett Sewing Factory in Eastland as
a seamstress until she retired in the 1970 and also
worked for Bray's Department Store for a number of
years. Vinetta was a member of the Eastside Baptist
Church. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible,
sewing and taking care of her flowers.
Vinetta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
two sons, Jerry Dobbs (RHS-1951) and Johnny Young (RHS-
1958), a grandson, Mickey Young, and three brothers, Paul,
J.C. and Elmo Young.
At the time of her death, Vinetta was survived by: her son,
Joe Young (RHS-1955) and wife, Betty of Amarillo; a daughter-
in-law, Linda Young (RHS-1963) of Eastland; a sister-in-law,
Mattie Young of Denton; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grand-
children; and two great great-grandchildren; and several
nieces & nephews.
