ELLIE NORENE COOPER ROURKE, 73, was born to Carrie
Waggoner & Ellis Cooper on July 29, 1917. She died
March 14, 1991, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at
Ranger, TX.
Norene married Joe Rourke, a native of New York and they
had two daughters, Rita Suzann Rourke Talbott & Catherine
Jane "Kathy" Rourke. Joe died in the early 1950's when
the girls were very young. At this time, Norene and her
daughters returned to Texas. She lived in Ranger & worked
as a surgical nurse at the Eastland Hospital for over 25
years, retiring in 1986. Both daughters attended Ranger
schools and were graduates of Ranger High School; Rita in
1968 & Kathy in 1969.
Norene was preceded in death by her parents. She was
survived by two daughters: Rita Suzann Talbott, of Euless/
Bedford, and Kathy Rourke Robinson, Irving, TX; two
sisters, Marian Cooper (Mrs. Robert G.) Riggs (RHS-1939),
Waco, TX, and Geneva Jane Cooper (Mrs. Harold Ham) (RHS-
1942), Garden Grove, CA; one brother, W.K. "Dub" Cooper
(RHS-1945), Ranger; four grandchildren, Scott and Timmy
Talbott, and Brian David Humphrey and Joseph E. Robinson,
all of Irving; three nephews, Michael Riggs, MD, Waco,
Roger Ham, Newport Beach, CA, and Stephen Richard Cooper,
Colorado Springs, CO; three nieces, Patricia Ann Riggs
(Mrs. John L.) Walker, Arlington, TX, Pamela Sue
Riggs (Mrs. Jackson Waldon) Chandler, Temple, TX, and
Connie Dawn Cooper (Mrs. David L.) Post, Fairborn, OH.
