Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1937

Jack Mace Mace children JACK WILLARD MACE, 63, was born on July 23, 1917, and died in April of 1981, while living at Eastland, TX. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. W.H. Mace of Ranger, TX. He had a sister, Maydell Mace (RHS-1938), who married Harold David Bray. He was in the Ranger High School Class of 1937 & married Arleta Wilburn Terry & they had four children, two daughters, Norma who was in the RHS Class of 1959, Gail Norris of Grand Falls, TX, and two sons, Bob Mace of Abilene, and Larry Mace of Corpus Christi. He entered the service with the National Guard in November of 1940, and received training at Camp Bowie, Brownwood, TX, Camp Blanding, FL, & Camp Edwards, MA. Before entering the service he was working on construction at Camp Bowie. He attained the rank of Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army & was wounded while serving overseas in Italy and also served in North Africa. His wife, Arleta, and daughter, Norma Ann Mace Taylor (RHS-1959), live at Lake Leon. WIFE: ARLETA TERRY MACE, 84, of Eastland died on Dec. 8, 2003 in Abilene, TX, with burial in the Eastland City Cemetery. Arleta was born May 20, 1919 in Eastland, County to Wiley & Martha Ann Terry. Arleta was a former member of the Volunteer Fire Depart- ment Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America, AARP, a former nursing home volunteer for six years, CB Club member, and Eastland Quarter- back Club member for many years. She and her late husband, Jack Mace (RHS-1937) owned and operated Lake Side Country Club for a number of years and she operated the snack bar at Hollywood Vasserette until its closing. She graduated from Eastland High School in 1936 and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Wiley and Martha Ann Terry; her husband, Jack Mace; her sister, Ada V. Terry Morren; and a great-grandson, Mathew Wharton. At the time of her death, she is survived by four children, Gail Norris and husband Robert of Lake Leon, Norma Taylor (RHS-1959) of Lake Leon and Jerome Chaney, Larry Mace and wife Cyndie of Eastland, and Robert (Bob) Mace and wife Denise of Abilene; grandchildren, Randy Wharton and wife Debbie of Eastland, Kevin Wharton of Eastland, Tab Norris of Eastland, Tim Norris and wife Tiffany of Houston, Ted Norris and wife Julie of Edgewood, NM, Brad and Tracy Mace of DeLeon, Ashley Mace of San Antonio, Paul Koestle of Norfolk, VA, Teri Koestle of Abilene, Tiffany and Jason Colliver of Hewitt, Jeffrey Mace of Euless, Felicia and Alecia Mace of Eastland; 19 great-grandchildren; a niece Rita Hyatt of Arlington; and nephew Terry Cox of Carbon.
