Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1927

Lila Brashier LILA MAY BRASHIER WALKER was the daughter of Colonel Lionel Brashier & Chaney Lyons who moved to Ranger, TX in 1906. She had a sister, Nancy Edna & four brothers, Willie, Felton, Hayden and Flato who died as a child. She was in the Ranger High School Class of 1927 and married Barrett Walker of Ranger. They owned and operated a furniture store in Cape Giradieu, MO, & later retired to Florida. They had two daughters, Peggy Taylor of Arlington and JoAnn Skelly of West Memphis, AR. Lila May died in 1971 & Barrett died in 1988. DAUGHTER: JOAN "JODY" WALKER SKELLEY, 86, passed away in Jacksonville, FL at sunrise on Dec. 27, 2015, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Born in Ranger, TX, Jody was raised by Barrett & Lila Walker with her young sister, Peggy. The family moved to Missouri to manage a furniture store. She played college basketball and tennis and received a degree in Elementary Ed and PE at SE Missouri State College. She was an artist and her artwork adorned the walls of our home. She met and married Jim Skelley in 1948 and became the wife of an FBI agent. While in New York City they adopted a son and later gave birth to a beautiful daughter before moving to Arkansas. Jody was a devoted follower of Christ and lived her life for Him. Her family was her life and even with her physical limitations, Jody was strong and wise. She wanted to know people by name and still had attention to detail and style as she aged. She understood the importance of loving and serving others. Mrs. Skelley was preceded by her husband, Jim of 63 years and her daughter, Janet. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Bill & Karen Skelley, her sister, Peg Taylor, 4 grandsons, 3 great-grand-daughters, 1 nephew, 1 niece, 2 great- nephews and 1 great-niece.
