WILLIE IRMA MATTHEWS WELLS KNOWLES,
78, died on Aug. 26, 1984, in Albuquerque, NM,
with burial at Elwood Memorial Park in Abilene,
TX.
She was born Nov. 12, 1905, in Chickasha, Indian
Terr., OK, to Harvey A. & Emmie Matthews. Her
siblings were Naomi Matthews Huckabay (RHS-1924),
Mildred Matthews True (RHS-1926), & Sammy Matthews
(RHS-1935). She attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1924 at Ranger, TX. Willie married Robert
C. Wells and they had a daughter La Jane Wells who
died in 2008. In 1943, she married John E. Knowles
and he died in 1972.
