Weird

Slowly he opened his eyes. There were so many people there, surrounding his bed. But who were they? They looked like a family. But who's? And why were they in his room? Looking at him like that? One of them came over to him, a woman. "Honey, you're awake." Why was she talking to him, as if she knew him? He definitely did not know her! She started to run her fingers through his hair. What is she doing? Is she crazy? Why is she here? "Come on Zac, talk to me." Who was this Zac? Was she talking to him? Now he was becoming frightened. He wished she would just stop doing that to his hair, and go away. He didn't even know her and here she was talking to him like she had known him forever! "Zac? You are awake aren't you? Please, say something." Now the oldest boy came up to him, the boy had long blonde hair, like all the kids there. His was kind of wavy, no one else's hair was wavy. "Zac, please, say something, anything." He grabbed onto his hand. Is the whole family crazy or something? What are they doing? They definitely all must be mental. He knew he had to say something, or they wouldn't go away. "You guys either need glasses really, really badly, or you're totally phsyco. I don't know you, any of you. Please, just go away. And get you're hands off of me!" The woman looked as if he had just hit her in the face, and the older boy that was holding his hand, suddenly let go, and looked at him in a weird way. "And stop looking at me like that! I didn't do anything to you. I just asked for you to go away. Please, go away." The oldest of the girls looked at him, a tear rolled down her cheek. She was so pretty, he didn't want to make her cry. Why was she crying anyway? He didn't do anything that would make her cry. "Please, don't cry." He said. The girl must have been younger than him by at least a year or two. But she was so fine. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. Maybe her family's phsyco but she isn't. Maybe she knows I don't know them. But why is she crying then? Maybe they can go away but she can stay here. He grinned. Then she spoke. "Zac, you do know us. How can you say you don't?" Aww, man, she's phsyco too. That sucks. Why does she have to be like them? "I have no idea on earth who you are! Can't you just leave me alone?" He wondered what was wrong with these people. His eyes never left the girl. Now the woman knelt down beside his bed. "Sweety, baby, listen to me. You do know us. Don't you remember? We're your family." Oh, great now she's talking to me like I'm her son or something. "I swear to you, that I do not know any of you." Now another boy came nearer to him. He was younger than the older boy, but not by much. The boy must have been around fourteen or fifteen. Older than himself. He had long blonde hair. Then the boy grabbed the man and woman and dragged them out, the rest followed. He shut the door. After a couple minutes, just the boy came back in. He pulled up a chair to the foot of his bed. "Okay, look, I'm gonna tell you this. Your name is Zachary Hanson. I am your brother. And that was your family. My name is Taylor." "My name isn't Zac!" He almost screamed, but he controlled his volume control. "Fine, then what is it?" He thought, and thought. For some reason he couldn't remember his name. What was it? Why couldn't he remember? This scared him even more. "See, you can't remember can you? You ARE Zac, my brother. You can't remember because you have Amnesia. Trust me, you are Zac." "But.... I... Don't know you, how can you be my brother?" He asked. "I know you don't know me. But I am your brother." "I think you all are crazy!" He was confused and frightened. "Can you remember anything? About your family then? If we aren't them then who are? Can you tell me that? And who are you? Where are you from? How old are you?" Taylor asked. He couldn't remember any of it. Everything in his head was like a huge black hole, nothing. There was no memories. Everything was gone. This scared him even more. "You are telling the truth aren't you?" Taylor let out his breath in a sigh. Glad, that his younger brother finally caught on. "Yes, I am." "Is that girl, the oldest one, is she my family too?" "Who? Jessi? Yeah. She's your sister." I just had the hots for my sister? But I don't remember any of them. But they have to be telling the truth. I don't understand. He was so confused that it made him disgusted. "How old am I?" "Twelve." "And you, how old are you?" "I'm fifteen." Taylor was sad that he had to explain to his brother who he was. It was so hard to believe that his own brother didn't even remember him. Anything about him. "Could you... introduce me to all of them? Please?" Zac asked, still trying to cope, that that was his family. "Sure." Taylor smiled weakly, and opened the door. The family came in. He shut the door then pointed towards the man. "This is your dad, Walker." Then he pointed towards the woman "And your mom, Diana." Towards the older boy that had put his hand on Zac's earlier. "Your brother, Isaac." Now towards the girl, the girl that he had liked. "Your sister, Jessica." Zachary slid farther down into the hospital bed. Knowing that who he had liked was his own sister. Then he pointed to the younger girl "You other sister, Avery." Towards the youngest boy "And your little brother, Mackenzie." Oh, God, I have a HUGE family. There are so many of them. "And you have a little baby sister, Zoe, who is at home." More? Another one? Geez! Was there any more? Zac waited But Taylor never said anything else. And Zac was glad, that was enough siblings, definitely. Then... The woman... No, his mom, said "You need to get up, you're going home now." Home? NOW? When I just figured out that I have a home, or a family for that matter? A family that I still don't really know. She handed him some clothes, then they all filed out the door. Zachary looked down at the neatly folded jeans and shirt. He slid out of bed and took off his hospital clothes, then put on the other ones. He now stood in front of the door. Wondering how it would be like living with a family he didn't know. He gathered up as much mental strength as he could. Then, sighed, and opened the door, to his, so called family. They were all waiting for him. He stepped out into the hall. His dad walked first, followed by his mother, then his sisters, and then brothers. Zac waited then followed last in line. Making sure not to lose sight of any of them. They then made it to the van. It was dark blue. Everyone crowded into it. Zac was squashed between his two brothers. Whatever their names were. It made him very un-comfortable to be in between people he didn't know. But I don't know anyone. So, I can't do anything about it. He was watching his hands, tracing circular patterns on his jeans. The car then stopped, and everyone got out. They were standing in front of a house. It must be our house. The littler kids ran up to the door and waited for their parents to get the keys so it could be opened. Everyone else walked slower, Zac slowest of all. They all made it into the house. Zac stood behind them all, just looking around. Taking it all in, trying to remember any of it. None of it he remembered. His mind was still that empty void, with no memories. He couldn't think right now, it scared him too much to think and not know anything. Then the oldest boy came up to him. "Zac, I'll show you around." So, he followed him. The boy showed him the whole house. Now they were in their room. It had a pull out bed, which was his. And a bunk bed. Which were his brothers. "What's your name again?" Zachary asked. "It's Isaac, or Ike, either one." "Okay." Zac said. Isaac sat across from him, watching him. Zachary swallowed nervously. He rubbed his hands over his comforter. "You really don't remember any of us do you?" Ike asked. Zac looked sadly up at his brother, he knew, if this boy was really his brother, it must hurt him to know that he didn't remember him. "No, I don't." "Do you remember anything?" "No." Isaac looked down into his lap. obviously disappointed. Someone called from downstairs, and he got up and left the room. Zachary stayed sitting there for a few minutes more, then he sat down in front of the radio and looked at all the cds. He chose one of a group called En Vogue, and put them in. Listening for a few minutes he started bobbing his head to the beat of the song.

Hours later, Zachary was in his bed, laying there, scared out of his mind. He was in a house with people he did not know. It scared him to death. They act nice enough, but what if they're not really? He was shaking, hard. His whole body shook. He didn't really know any of these people, he was in a house with complete and utter strangers. What if they do something to me in the night? Will I still be alive tomorrow? He was so very afraid of what could happen to him. His mind wouldn't leave the thoughts behind, all the bad thoughts. All the thoughts of them doing something to him, hurting him, maybe even killing him. A couple tears trickled down his cheeks. He felt so alone, all alone in the world. He was probably the only person on the planet that didn't know anyone. "Zac?" Someone whispered into the darkness. It made him jump slightly, after thinking all those things about this family, the voice scared him more. Quickly he wiped the tears from his eyes. "Zac?" They said again. "Hmm?" He asked just as quietly. Then he heard someone crawling out of bed, he saw one of the boys faces. The younger boy, he couldn't remember his name. He sat beside Zac's bed. "What's the matter?" "I.....uh.....I" Zachary didn't know how to answer the question, he couldn't exactly tell him what he had been thinking. "You're shaking, are you okay?" Zac tried to get his body to stop shaking, He tensed up, but he kept shaking. Nothing worked. "Uh.........Yeah." "Why are you shaking?" "I don't know." Zac lied. He didn't know how he could explain anything to his brother, I mean how could he tell him that he thought his family was going to kill him while he slept? "It's okay, Zac, calm down." As if he was reading his mind Tay said "Zac, I know it's hard and everything, but you have to trust us. We all love you very much and wouldn't ever do anything to hurt you, we're your family. We're here for you, and we'll help you get through this memory loss thing okay?" "Mhmm." Zac shook his head up and down. Glad that his brother, whatever his name was, was helping him, and trying to understand what he was going through. It made it easier to bear that he couldn't remember anything. Taylor helped Zachary more that night than he would ever know. That little talk, helped Zac get through it all.

¤ ¤ ¤ Zachary woke up late the next morning. He lay there for a few minutes trying to remember where he was. Then, he remembered the day before. He got up and dressed, then went down stairs, His mother asked if he was hungry and he said no. He heard someone playing music. Zac followed the sound into the garage. There, inside was Taylor and Isaac, Taylor on the piano, singing, and Isaac on guitar. They were really good. He didn't even know that they could play that good. He sat down in the couch and listened to the words. Taylor was singing clearly "Don't cry, I'm with you, don't cry, I'm by your side, don't cry, I'm with you, don't cry, I'm by your side, and though my flesh is gone." He and Taylor then sang together something like "Woah." Then Taylor sang "I'll still be with you, at all times, and though my bodies gone, 'woah', I'll be there to comfort you, at all times." Then they made another "woah, woah, cause if I'm gone when you wake up, please don't cry, and if I'm gone when you wake up, it's not goodbye, don't look back at this time, it's a time of heartbreak and distress, remember me, remember me, cause I'll be with you, oh, woah, oh" Then Isaac saw Zac sitting there, and he stopped. Taylor played a few more chords, and sang a bit more, before realizing that he had stopped, then he too stopped playing. They both looked at him. What? What do they want? Am I not supposed to be in here? Zac got up and said shyly "Sorry." And headed for the door. "No, no, wait." Said Ike. Zachary turned around. He sat back on the couch. "I guess you don't remember how to play the drums either huh?" Taylor asked, sitting down beside him. "No..... I played the drums?!?" "Yes, Zac, you did." Isaac said. "You guys are really good you know? I wish I could do that." Taylor and Isaac looked at each other then at him. "Zac, you can, we used to be a band, before...before you wiped out and got....Amnesia." Said Taylor. Isaac went over to the cd rack and pulled out a cd. Then handed it to Zac. It was orange with three boys laying down in grass. Wait, that isn't just any three boys, that's us! That's me! I'm on an album!! Zachary looked up at them. "We're famous?!?!" "Well... yeah." "Is that song on here?" Zachary asked as he flipped the cd over and looked down at the tracks. "Yeah, it's that one." Taylor said, pointing towards "With You In Your Dreams" The brothers explained everything about the band and how many albums they had made, when their tour was supposed to be..etc..etc.. Until Zac was satisfied. Then, he ran up the stairs to listen to Middle Of Nowhere, followed by Tay. Zac put in the cd and listened as "Thinking Of You" Came on. "Who's that?" Zac asked. "Me." Tay said. "How long ago did we make this?" "Last year." "Whoa! You sound like me in this song!" He listened, "MMMBop" came on. "I like this song!" He said aloud. Taylor smiled at him, thinking of how everyone liked that song. They listened all the way to "Lucy" Once it came on Zac started screaming "Oh, my gosh!! Is that me? That's me isn't it? This is so cool! I'm a singer!!!" They listened to the whole album, then Zac looked around until he found Snowed In, then he put that one in too. Once it was on, Zac was surprised "This one's newer isn't it? Your voice is deeper now. In this album." "Yeah." Taylor was watching Zachary's reactions to the different songs, finally it was over. Taylor had fallen asleep. Zac was hyped. He had just figured out that he was a rock star, and he loved it. He walked down the stairs into the living room. He saw Jessica sitting there, on the couch, reading a book. Zachary came over to her and sat right next to her, watching her. "Hi Zac." She said, not even bothering to look up from her book. "Hi." He moved even closer to her. "Uh... Zac." She pulled the book down and looked at him. "You're squishing me here." "Sorry." He said, but didn't move. "That means, move, a little please." Zachary moved the slightest inch, still staring at her. She resumed her reading. "Ya' know? I'm a rock star??" "Yes, Zac, I do." Jessi said, a bit annoyed that he was rubbing it in her face, that he was and she wasn't. "You're really pretty you know?" "What?!?" She asked, shocked, that this was coming from her brother! She put down her book. "What are you talking about?" "You are, Really." He stared lovingly into her eyes. Jessica didn't know what was up with him. Yeah sure, he did have Amnesia and was messed up and everything. But he was acting very weird. "You have really beautiful eyes." "Zac!?! Stop it! You're scaring me!" "Don't be scared." He leaned over towards her, he didn't even remember that he was told that she was his sister. He put his arm around her. She was too shocked to say anything. He moved closer to her, and leaned his face closer to hers. Closing his eyes, he moved his lips even closer to hers. The next minute his face connected with the couch. He opened his eyes to find Jessica standing up glaring down at him. "That is so disgusting Zac. Don't you remember anything?!? I'm your sister!! Jessica!! That is so gross." She yelled, then ran out the front door. Zachary sat there wide eyed, remembering again what he had been told. Aww man... I can't believe I just did that. Isaac came in. "What was Jessi yelling about?" "Nothing." Zac said. Trying again to remember what his brother's name was. "AGHH!" He yelled, frustrated that he couldn't remember anything. He shoved his fists into the couch. Isaac came and sat beside him. "What's bothering you?" "What's bothering me?!? I can't remember anything that's what's bothering me! I don't know your name. I couldn't remember that... uh...." He thought for a minute to find her name in that dark pit that he called his mind. "..... Jessica was my sister. I don't know anything. And I'm afraid I will never know anything again." Zac put his head in his hands. Isaac put his arm around his little brother. "It's okay, Zac, I know it's hard. But the doctor said that it could come back to you. It'll just take awhile, that's all." "But... I... I almost kissed my sister!! Not just like, kissed, kissed, But I almost REALLY kissed her!!" "Oh, man, Zac, you like Jessi??" Zac couldn't believe he just told Isaac what he had done to his little sister. "But, I didn't remember she was my sister, until she told me! What if I do it again?" "Just... Uh...I don't think Jessi will even let you get close to doing it again. Trust me!" "Will... Will you help me? Could you keep reminding me everyone's name's and everything, please?" Zac gave his brother such a pleading look. This was very important to him. He wanted to remember, he really did. But he knew he would have to have help, from someone. "Yeah, sure." Isaac was glad that his little brother, finally stopped being nervous around him. And actually talked with him. He was always used to all his brothers coming to him when they needed to talk, so he wasn't surprised that Zac chose to ask him. "And, do you think I could learn those drums and singing again?" "I don't know, since I don't know how to play the drums, I can't help you. Last time you taught yourself. But maybe, just maybe I could convince mom to get you lessons." Zachary's face brightened so much, that Ike almost hugged him. "I could help you with the harmonizing and singing stuff though." "Okay, thanks." Zac got up and walked to the front door. "I'm going out." He said, opening it. "No, your not, not on your own." He heard Taylor's voice. Then Tay's face appeared and he walked out the door with him. "You might get lost." So, they walked together down the street. Zac was walking much faster than his older brother. He was looking at all the other houses. All the different designs. It wasn't a long street, so they soon came to the end of it. Once they had turned around someone started yelling Zac's name. Zac didn't pay attention to it for a couple minutes, then remembering that that was HIS name that was being called he looked up. There was a girl walking across the street towards the sidewalk he was on. She was so very beautiful, she looked exactly like his sister, Jessica, except she was more his age. And taller than his sister. "Zac." She said again. Suddenly he didn't want to talk to her. Maybe she was some cousin or something. Then, if he didn't talk to her he wouldn't be attracted to her. He kept walking. Not paying any attention to her. "Zac? What are you doing? Hey! Zac!" She caught up with him. He kept walking. And she kept the pace with him. He could see her out of the corner of his eye. She looked kind of hurt that he was ignoring her. He prayed she wasn't any relative of his then stopped. "What?" He asked. "It's nice to see you." "You too." He was now looking into the dark black void that was his mind. Searching his memory hoping he would find something, hoping he would recognize her. Nope, nothing, didn't work. He had no earthly idea who she was. "So, you want to come over or something, later." Does she not even know that I have no idea who she is? I mean, if she is like a friend or relative or something, wouldn't someone have told her that I have Amnesia? He started running, towards their house. As fast as his legs could carry him. He could hear Taylor running behind him. There, he had made it, panting he opened the door, and collapsed onto the couch, which was now empty. "Why in the world did you do that to Tiffany?" "Who?" Taylor, had thought for awhile that his brother had recognized her. But he hadn't. That was obvious now. That was why he had run. "Her name's Tiffany." "Is she a relative?" "No, she's like, your best friend though." "Oh..." Zac felt bad again. That he couldn't remember anything.

The Next Day:
"Hey." Zachary said, as he walked into the kitchen. He was trying to figure out where he was. There was a girl in the kitchen, she was younger than him. "Do you think... maybe you could tell me where I am? And uh..why I'm here?" He felt so weird. Somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he was supposed to be here, but he couldn't figure out why. Or where he was. "Zac, you're at home, you live here." She sighed. And put down her glass of milk and came gingerly and cautiously up to him. Afraid that he might try and kiss her again. She stood in front of him. "Zac, listen to me. You live here. This is your home." Zac's eyes were full of confusion, he couldn't understand. He didn't understand how this could be his home when he didn't even remember coming here. "ZAC! Do you understand?" "No, how can this be my home?" "It is." "But I don't remember it. Why don't I remember?" He was becoming scared now. "I know you don't remember, you have Amnesia. It's okay, you will remember soon enough." He stood there thinking about what she said, for a few minutes. Almost five minutes went by. She had thought he had dazed out on her. But he finally remembered that this was where he was supposed to be. This was where he belonged. He didn't exactly grasp that this was where he lived, but he knew he was in the right place. He again looked at his sister. "What's your name?" He was curious of who this beautiful girl was that was standing in front of him. "Jessi." She was kind of nervous. Wondering if Zac remembered that she was his sister or not. Zac slowly traced the outline of her chin and cheek bones. "Stop it, Zac." "Why? What's wrong?" He couldn't understand why she wanted him to stop doing that. He ran his fingertips over her lips. She jerked back and ran out, leaving Zachary standing there utterly confused out of his mind.

Chapter 2 The next day, Isaac, and Zac had been up early practicing harmonizing and singing. Now they had finished and were drinking lemonade in the kitchen. Jessi was there, but once she saw Zac she ran out. Zac watched her go, disappointed that she left. Isaac came over and laid his hand on Zac's shoulder. "She's your sister, Zac, remember that." "I know, I know.." Zachary was feeling good, but seeing Jessica leave him like that made him feel down again. That day he woke up knowing, remembering. He knew what he did yesterday. And he also remembered why he was here, he knew this was his house and his family. The farthest back he remembered was when he was in the hospital. The day when he had saw them all for the first time, and Taylor had explained everything to him. He stared into the yellow liquid that was in his glass. "It's okay, She'll get over it." Isaac said, trying to be re-assuring, he saw the look on his brother's face. That sad look. Zac had been so happy a minute ago, he wanted to bring back the happy look. "You did good today, singing and all." "I did? Really? But I still can't sing like I did in Middle Of Nowhere..." "Well, yeah, but this is only our first practice, you'll get there." Isaac and Zachary drank their lemonade, and then Zac put it up and walked into the living room, there was Jessica, sitting there, watching T.V. He had to keep reminding himself that she was his sister. He kept walking, up the stairs into his room. Shutting the door he rummaged through the cds again. He found another one, Jewel, he put it in and listened for awhile before even realizing someone was watching him. Once he did, he turned around, the boy was sitting on his bed, looking at him. Zac gave him a questioning look, Taylor knew that he couldn't remember his name. "It's Taylor." He pointed out. "Right, okay, thanks." Zachary looked back into his hands. "Does... Uh... does that girl, uh... Tiffany, does she know that I... that I don't remember any of this?" "Yes, she does." Zac couldn't figure out why she would act like everything was fine then. If she knew everything wasn't fine, why would she act that way? Why would she act like he knew her, if she knew he didn't? He decided to not think about it. He just listened to the soft voice that was playing on the radio.

¤ ¤ ¤ The next day Zac was walking by himself down the street again. He saw Tiffany sitting on the side walk. He felt kind of bad for ignoring her. So, he went up to her. "Uh... Hi." "Hey." She said, without looking up. "I'm sorry for running off." He sat down beside her. "Why'd you do it?" "Because.... You acted like you knew me... you acted like I should know you.. But I don't." "You don't remember me?" "No." "I thought you did." "Sorry." He was watching her. "Well, my name's Tiffany, I was your best friend. We've known each other like all our lives." "We have?" "Mhmm." She nodded her head. He searched again, for any trace of a memory, but there wasn't. How could I just not remember anything at all? Nothing? "You look... like my sister." He looked up at her, into her dark blue eyes. "Is that good or bad?" "Good, definitely very good." He was so glad she wasn't related to him. Her long blonde hair was blowing into his face, from the breeze. She reached back and tucked it behind her ear. He grinned. She was so beautiful. But he felt nervous, she knew him, but he didn't know her. It was an awkward feeling to know that. He carefully moved his hand, he had to touch that long gleaming hair. He had to. If he didn't he would go crazy. Slowly and cautiously he moved his hand onto her hair, once feeling the softness, he began running his hands through it. She looked curiously at him. He closed his eyes, just feeling her soft hair. He sighed deeply, then re-opened them and took his hand from her hair. "Okaaaay, you're gonna explain that to me aren't you?" She asked suspiciously. "Nope." He grinned slyly. Chapter 3 It had been at least a month. Zac had been practicing his singing and drums every day. He had now become as good as singer as he had been before, but his drumming he still wasn't as good, almost, but not quite. But now the boys could practice together, and they did, a lot, they practiced as often as possible. Zac loved it, he enjoyed music more than anything. They were down there now. Zachary had suggested that they sing "Lucy" so that is what they did. He was ending the song now with "I love Lucy, my Lucy, on the day, that I left Lucy, my Lucy" He had to read the words off of a print out Isaac had made for him, but he almost had it memorized. It made him feel good that he could sing again. After that, they sat on the couch and drank Dr. Pepper. Taylor was talking about a new song he was writing, that he wanted them to help him with it. Zachary was looking around the garage. He saw their motor cycles. He saw his motor cycle, he knew it was his motor cycle, no one told him. But suddenly he knew, he was about to tell his brother's when something flashed in his head. Then he saw that he was riding the bike, a memory, that was what it was. Zac was remembering. He was so happy, then he slammed on the brake. He flew from the seat, and landed, then nothing, nothing more. He couldn't remember what happened next. What was that all about? "Uh... guys?" "Yeah?" Isaac looked at him, expecting another question about who they were, or what their names were or something. "Uh.... I just remembered something." Now they both were looking at him. They looked excited, happy that he remembered. "What?" Taylor asked. "I was on my bike... But I hit the brake and fell off." "That's what happened." Isaac said looking solemnly at his little brother. "What do you mean?" Zac asked. "When you were on your bike, Mackie ran out in front of you, you slammed on the brakes and flew off the bike, and hit your head. That's why you have Amnesia, that's what caused it." Taylor explained. Zachary looked over at his bike, he was so glad that he had remembered. Finally after so long of just having nothing inside of him. He now had a memory. It was small and only one, but it was one, it was something. Something in his mind, something that he remembered. Zac jumped up and ran around screaming "Yes, yes, yesss!!!!!" He then ran over to his drums and banged on them as hard as he could, then jumped around all over the place, grinning from ear to ear. Taylor and Isaac watched their ecstatic little brother, sharing in the joy he had. "Whoopee!!" He yelled as he jumped onto the couch they were on. Sending them both up into the air. "Lets sing another one." He suggested, once he had calmed down. "Okay, which one?" Isaac asked. "Um...." Zachary looked over all the tracks, on the album that was beside him. "Man From Milwaukee" "Alright." Taylor and Isaac said in unison.
