Welcome To Adam's Nautical Site
I'm Back! After 2 years of no up-dates!
- Progress on Weekender Sail Boat!
A little about me. I am Adam Graser, Pilot for Kirby Marine, in Houston, Texas.
I live in Palestine, Texas (about 3 hours from Houston) and work on the Motor Vessel Capt. Reggie Leboeuf. She is a 290 ton towboat that we use to push tank barges with petro-chemicals on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. She's 85 feet long, 29 feet wide, 10 foot draft, and from the waterline to the top of the masthead, she's 44 foot tall. 1800 Horsepower.
She can hold 8 crew members aboard and keep enough grub to keep our strength up for the 30 days out we each work.
I like to study maritime history, pirates, and build boats. This site will keep you up to date on the happenings around my place.

We have been on the Mississippi River and mainly on the east side (Pascagoula, Mobile) for a while now. Most of the tows we push are around 600 feet long. Sometimes up to 900 feet! Via the Intracoastal Waterway and Mississippi River, we move barges to docks to load usually oil products, then take them to another dock to discharge.

I have not worked on construction of the Weekender, a 19 foot sailboat, for almost 2 years. We built a new home and it has been on the back burner for a while. Hope to finish it soon. Have pics of the progress thus far. Look below for the link to that page.
Send me an e-mail and let me know what you think of this site, a sea story, or about your boatbuilding projects. I'd really like to hear from you!
