If there is one thing that I can say about Nevermore it is that they have definately created their own style. The vocals are all clean but they are definately not power metal. The guitars are very quick in a lot of the songs but they never sound anything like thrash, death, or black metal. They very rarely settle into a groove and their lyrics sometimes sound silly. But none of this causes any problems here. This cd is loaded with lots of great music that can be very deep and sorrowful one second and growling in your face the next. The guitar work here also really stands out. The rhythms are very different and at first seem like they are out of place, but after a few listens they begin to really shine. There are not any huge solos here as their were on the group's previous cd (The Politics of Ecstasy) but the overall musical content is much better here. I highly recommend this cd to anyone looking for something heavy, but a little different than everything else out there.
