Megadeth are an excellent band with a lot of talent. They have changed their style a little over the years, but they are still metal.

This is one of the biggest piles of shit I have heard in my life. Dave Mustaine needs to be drug out in the street and shot in the face at point blank range with a 12 gauge shotgun! I can't believe that he sold out so bad! Why couldn't he have stuck with the formula on Cryptic Writings? There is nothing even remotely fast on this cd. The only songs on this cd I can stand to listen to are Prince of Darkness and Time: The end. Everything else is pretty terrible. A few other songs are bearable, The Doctor Is Calling and Insomnia, but everthing else sucks ass. Dave Mustaine has sold his soul to pop. He has stabbed his true fans in the back. Why doesn't he just disband Megadeth and try out for Matchbox 20. Please, do not buy this cd, you would only be supporting a sellout bitch.

Best Songs: Prince Of Darkness, Time: The End, Insomnia

COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION
10.0

Megadeth's finest work can be found on this cd. It is truly incredible from start to finish. There are no low points. The first song, Skin O' My Teeth, really sets the pace well for the rest of the cd. It is very fast and hard. Then there is the best Megadeth song ever, Symphony of Destruction. I love that damn song! It's not too fast, but it is really hard and it has an excellent beat. I could write a paragraph on every song and I still feel I would not have expressed myself enough, so I am just going to point out the very highest points of this cd. Countdown To Extinction(the song) is very good. High Speed Dirt, Foreclosure of A Dream, and This Was My Life are also excellent songs. The strangest song on this cd has got to be Captive Honour. It starts out slow, then you hear some kind of trial going on and this guy(Dave Mustaine) gets sentenced to live in prison. And after this is finished they just start kickin some more ass because this is an excellent song. Ashes in Mouth is probably my least favorite song on this cd, but it is still pretty good. It is just not quite up to the level the rest of the songs on this cd are on. But that does not take anything away from the fact that this is one of the best damn cd's you will ever hear in your life. This is truly Megadeth's finest work, and that is saying a lot because they have some fine cd's(all except for Youthanasia because I really don't like that cd). This is Metal Heaven.

Best Songs: Symphony of Destruction, Countdown To Extinction, Foreclosure of A Dream

RUST IN PEACE

Up until a few years ago, nobody had ever really heard of Megadeth because they were not considered "popular". Forget that! They have been putting out killer cd's for years, and this is no exception. While this is not as good as Countdown to Extincion, it is still very good. It is also a different style from CTE, or any cd they released after it. This was the last Megadeth thrash album. Songs like Posion Was The Cure and Holy Wars are speed metal classics. Then of course there is the awesome title song and non-stop action from Tornado of Souls. This is also Megadeth's first cd with their current linup, and they jelled perfectly together from the beginning to end on this cd. I would definitely say that this is Megadeth's finest speed metal cd. So if you people out there getting into Cryptic Writings and some of their other new stuff are wondering about their old stuff let me tell you, this is one awesome cd.

Best Songs: Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Poison Was The Cure

YOUTHANASIA
5.1

This is without a doubt Megadeth's weakest cd(besides Risk). The first four songs are great but then almost everything else is crap. Reckoning Day is the first song, and it is probably the best. The first time I played this cd I remember thinking that if the rest of the album was anywhere as good as this song then it would be incredible. As then as I listened to the next few songs I was still really pleased. Train Of Consequences really got me fired up and then Addicted To Chaos kept me going. Boy was I pumped. Next, A Tout Le Monde. Now this is a pretty slow song, so I was kind of let down, but I still thought it was a good song so I am still pleased with the cd. Now comes the bad news. All of the other songs, except for two, are horrible songs. The two that I do like are The Killing Road and Blood Of Heros. The rest of the songs are just pathetic. The worst song is easily Victory. It sounds like Dave Mustaine wrote this in about 30 seconds and just threw it on the cd to take up space. Elysian Fields is also an incredibly dumb song in which I loath and despise. The other songs suck so bad I won't even mention them. All in all this cd is just average with to many crap songs, but the songs that are good really rock.

Best Songs: Reckoning Day, Train of Consequences, The Killing Road

CRYPTIC WRITINGS

8.3
The latest release by Megadeth is leaps and bounds better than Youthanasia. This cd has also been a big commercial breakthrough for Megadeth, and they didn't have to modify their sound. Trust, Use The Man, Almost Honest, and A Secret Place were all radio hits. All of those are good except for A Secret Place- that song sucks. I don't have a clue why they released that song. Have Cool Will Travel is also terrible, but those are really the only bad songs on here. She-Wolf and The Disintegrators rip right along and I'll Get Even is really cool. Fight For Freedom and Vortex are also pretty good. Mastermind is a solid groove and Sin is average. Damn! I covered every song. Also, be sure to listen to the solo on She-Wolf. It is incredible! It reminds me of an Iron Maiden solo. I am glad that Megadeth have found a way toget more rwcognition and still stay true to their fans.

Best Songs:She-Wolf, The Disintegrators, I'll Get Even
