Iron Maiden are probably the greatest traditional metal group ever. They have survived the years and many line-up changes and still churn out excellent music.

IRON MAIDEN

This cd is full of classic Iron Maiden stuff. They still play half of this cd on their live set. My favorite on here has got to be Phantom of The Opera. I love all of the tempo changes and different parts of the song. Prowler and Running Free are also incredible Iron Maiden classics. Transylvania, an instrumental guitar marathon, is another gem on here. And then of course we have the classic, Iron Maiden. Man that song is awesome! To this day they still close every concert with it. Fans have come to expect it, and the bands knows it. Sanctuary and Remember Tommorrow are two more classics. Charlot The Harlot is not really a classic, but I like it and, it spawned a series of songs on later Iron Maiden albums based upon it. Strange World is probably the only song that I never got into. Damn! I just gave my thoughts on every song! The only real complaint I have about this cd is the sound production. This stuff is raw! If this cd would have had better production I would have given it a 10. After this album, the production picked up a lot. But don't let that little complaint stop you from getting this cd. It is awesome.

VIRTUAL XI

The newest cd from Iron Maiden proves that they are still alive and kicking. This cd sounds like a continuation of it predecessor, The X-Factor. But I have to say that I like this cd more than The X-Factor. It starts off very strongly with Futureal, a song that reminds me of Aces High, but is very good in its own right. Following that is probably the only song I cannot get into on this cd, The Angel And The Gambler. I have talked with many people and they all agree that this song is way to repetitive and way to long. You would think that a song that was almost ten minutes would have a lot of variety in it, but it has none! If this track would have been five minutes I would have loved it, but it just gets old. But keep your heads up because the next song, Lightning Strikes Twice, really kicks some butt. It has a lot of cool guitar parts in it as well as some excellent vocals by Blaze Bailey. The next song on the album, is in my opinion, the best. It is called the Clansman. I know what you are thinking, no they do not promote the KKK, it is a song based on the movie Braveheart, and boy does it rock. The rest of the songs on this cd rock hard too. The Educated Fool is simply incredible, and Don't Look To The Eyes Of A Stranger is awesome. Como Estais Amigos is very well written and is one of their best epics. Basicall what I am trying to tell you is GO GET THIS CD! It is near perfect! I just wish that The Angel And The Gambler wasn't so repetitive.
