about a blast from the past! You may or may not remember me. I have vague
memories of you and your brother.
I graduated back in 1988
and played football and basketball with Abel and Pete. Abel was a hell
of an athlete and I don't know if
he really knew how good he
was. I still laugh to this day thinking about Pete getting his bell rung
one game when we played Milsap.
He couldn't have spelled
cat if you spotted him the 'c' and the 'a' that night. I remember
the school burning, I actually called the fire
department. I was working
at that day care center right next to what use to be the tennis courts.
I remember Mrs. McGehee from the
fourth grade and of course
Mr. McGehee. I think I made it to his office a time or two.
Many of the names who signed your book ring
a bell and others such as
Missy and Tanya really ring a bell if they are who I think they are. Take

Jon, My name is Carla. I am one of Kaye's friends from back in our school
days.
I always thought of myself
as her best friend, then she moves off and I seen her maybe 1 or 2 times
in a years time. I lost contact
with her except through the x-mas card sendin'. Then I got my computer
and x-mas 99 she had written'
that she had a computer and if I did to please let her know of my e-mail
address. So that is how we
had been keepin' in contact here lately.I asked her for some pics of the
family

I have to say, you have got a talent of havin' a way with words that made
me sit and think about how
much I really do miss havin' her around and just how much I have missed
out on. I last seen Kaye
back in May of 1995 when she had come to the hospital in Dallas to visit
me.
I had went in for emergancy
brain surgery.(but that is another story in it's self). She made it a point
to
be there for me and I was
so glad she had. She is just someone I am glad to say, is my friend !
I wanted to write to you
to let you know that I am glad you were there for her and her family when
times got really bad. I never
knew just how bad things were for them. I would love to stay and chat
more but I really need to

seeing your web page and reading some of the vistors comments brought
back so many memories for
me. I hope that you and your younger brother remember
me....since I did grow up
only a house a way from you guys. I remember when there was no
house in between ours and
we would ride our bikes in that dry ravine. Man I think almost
every kid in the neighborhood
must have wiped out aleast once there. It is amazing how
things change because now
there is a pond where we use to ride our bikes. I have so many

as I was reading thru your web page, reading about Venus. I couldn't
help but
remember what Venus used
to be like. I moved to Venus, Texas when the population was a whopping
518. I believe the year was
1979 and we lived there until we moved away in 1984. I will never forgot
Venus and how much fun I
had when I lived there. I also remember Mr. McGee, the principal,
and Mr. Vaughn,
the old superintendent. When
we got in trouble and were sent to his office, he would always fall asleep
during his lectures. I will
never forget Mr. McGee as he tried to discourage me from smoking by telling
me
this story of his aunt that
he was remembered always with a cigarette in one hand and a cup of
coffee in
the other. Why just the other
day, as I was driving to work, I was trying to drive, smoke, and
drink my coffee
at the same time, I laughed
as I thought, Wouldn't Mr. McGee be horrified if he could see me
now." I was very
sad to hear about the fire
in December. It reminded me of the last big fire --- when the original
school burnt
down. I loved that
school. It was one building schoolhouse, K-12. In fact, I was
there the day of the fire. I was
the first one to notice the
fire and I helped to get the building evacuated. It was back when there
were only a
couple of school buses
and they had to take us home in shifts. I was on the second shift,
and was standing
outside the school that day.
I was leaning against the building when I noticed flames coming out of
the roof of the gym.
I quickly found my sister
and told her to go find Mr. Vaughn. Then I alerted the teachers who
were keeping the
smaller children in classrooms
until the bus arrived back. I told them that they needed to get out
NOW
because the building was
on fire. I believe I was in sixth grade at the time. Anyway, Mr.
Vaughn went into the
gym and he sat on a chair
on the stage. I believe the fire started behind the stage area. Mr. Vaughn
started yelling
that he was going down with
the school this time. He had to be physically removed from the stage.
Just as everyone was clear from the building, the stained glass
windows blew out. Glass went everywhere. And you know what? Not one single
fire alarm went off. Since the school was destroyed, we began
having class in the Methodist Church basement down the street. Actually,
half our classes were at the church, and the other half were in portable
buildings they had moved in where the burned school was. So now we had
to walk a little bit to change classes. One day, my sister and I, and my
best friend decided that we were going to be smart and ditch the
rest of the day. We just keep walking down the block past the church. Well,
I guess Mr. McGee was a little smarter than we were. He met us up the road,
waved at us, and said, "Bye girls. I'll see you on Thursday". Well,
since it was Monday, I guess you can figure out that we got suspended for
three days. Another thing that I remember from way back then was that we
had only one police officer, and one deputy.
I believe the police chief's
name was Mr. Bell. During one of the great Halloween carnivals we used
to have in the gym, Mr. Bell was joking with my little sister and her friend,
and he handcuffed them together--- and then he forgot aboutthem---then
he left. We had to search all over town that night to find Mr. Bell and
get the handcuffs off. I have so many wonderful old memories

and I recently heard about the fire Venus had, and was
very saddened. You see my
grand father was Thomas Charles Lee, he was the owner of the Venus
Express newspaper years ago
and lived in Venus for quite a while, in fact both him and my
grandmother, Eva Viola Lee
are buried at the Venus Cemetary. I am writing to you to ask if you would
happen to know who I should
contact to get more information on the Venus Express History. When I
was little, back in the early
60's my dad Thomas Carroll Lee and my mom would take my sister and I to
visit our grandparents every
sunday. (we lived in Dallas) I remember the cotton gin, the old Bank
building and walking to the
grocery store on the square. My grandfathers printshop was located on
the square,and they lived
in the back of the shop, they were very poor at the time. I would love
to
keep talking about this but,
I need to go please let me know if you know who I could contact about

brother better. I read your
website about being on the Sally Show. When I saw your picture and read
that page, I realized that
I did remember you. You knew my grandmother as well. My nonnie was Ruby
Woods. She used to live across
the street from the church. She passed away this last January. She is
with the Lord now. Like I
said earlier, you probably remember my little sister, Tanya Dietrich. She
was
on the flag team with Heidi
Douthit, a friend of hers named Shirley , and Tanya Hibdon. My brother
is
Douglas Davy. He got married
to Tiffany Woodbeck and they have two little boys. I myself got married
to a beautiful woman by the

9. Our daughter's name is Jocelyn, and she will be 6 years old in January.

joined the Army when I got
out of high school. I am a SGT, working on getting my SSG. I am in
Germany right now, and I
am due to leave here in May of 2000. I am going to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.
