***** out of ****

tired of listening to those '90s albums that all seem to sound the same? "no rulz", the first release from the houston seven-man army, frank d. and the new deal, smashes this trend. this highly anticipated album, recorded, mixed and mastered at the nationally-renowned milagro recording studio, was met with huge fanfare in the houston/zagreb area. this brief but explosive album displays the wide range of expertise that this young but seasoned group is all about. want a tune to kick back to in the convertible on a saturday afternoon while doing donuts around the stateball court, which is always ass-packed with girls? try "cruisin'", the opening song on the album. maybe your having a party and you want the perfect music to ensure that all your crappy friends continue to pretend as though they are having a good time? "heat it up, eat it up" is your song. this funk tune features the rangey voice of jesse and the melting harmony of marty's sax. great song if your alone with a lady. "three seconds", the band's signature hit and first release, features jason on vocals, which means that the listener is treated to delightful rock n' roll noises, such as "oh yeah." The album concludes with the title track, "no rulz." there are three words that one can use to describe this song: metal, metal, and more meatal. ever feel like kicking someone's ass, i mean really kicking their ass? pump "no rulz", and you won't be stopped. this musical blitzkreig has metal up your ass written all over it. this album is the type that you will catch youself keeping a beat to with your air drum kit. it exemplifies everything that is good about music in the '90s. and the guys are really cool!
