Owner Bio - Dick Demets started racing in 1959 at Minnesota Dragway in a '53 Chevy 6 cylinder with a split manifold, 3-1 barrell carb, and cherry bomb mufflers. It ran something like 21 seconds at 68 mph in the quarter mile. After the '53 Dick stepped into a D gas Chevy that ran in the 14 second zone around 1961. In '63 Dick ran a C fuel dragster that was a Hillborn injected 287 cubic inch small block on nitro that ran 9 second ET's. Nitro was $2.25 per gallon in those days. Dick then moved to a '55 Chevy B/G that ran 12 second ET's from '65 to '67. After a 67 Chevelle and 68 Camaro Z-28 Dick took a step up to Pro Stock. Dick match raced in the mid west and ran 9 second ET's. Dick raced '70 model Camaro Pro Stockers through 1982. In '82 Dick bought a 23T he called the "Bowtie Bandit" altered and in '91 Dick began racing his '55 Chevy nitro funny car. The 55 ran a best of 3.83 in the eighth mile at 198.91 mph. Quarter mile the car would turn 5.93 at 244 mph. His altered ran 3.86 at 186 mph in the eighth mile and 6.06 at 237 mph in the quarter mile.
