Welcome to my Home Page! Well let me briefly tell you about me and what I am in to. Well my name is Damir Somic and I currently live in Arlington, Texas. I am 20 year-old originally from Bosnia and I came to US 4 years ago and currently I am a senior in high school. The reason that I am still in high school is that I lost 2 years of school while I was coming from Bosnia to here. I currently work as a Croatian/Bosnian translator for Bosnian and Croatian people in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and I love it. Translating job can be though sometimes but I with practice I got to the point at which I really do not care how much frustration will it bring. Besides translating I am also writing songs and poems from which my famous one is "I am young and I don't want to die" and it was published in my high school literary magazine 2 years ago. That poem has brought me a national awards and recognitions so I am very proud of the way it is doing. I will post that poem to the web site very soon so you can read it. Because most of my songs and poems are written in Serbo-Croatian language I am working on translating them into the English and possibly publishing them together in a book. Besides songs and poems I spend most of my time working on a computer because I just love it. I am currently attending a training to become MCSE (Microsoft Certified System Engineer) so I could do even more what I love and that is working doing things on computer. I like to watch movies, TV and relax in my free time (which there is very little). There was a story about me that was published in my high school's newspaper 2 years ago and I will be posting it later to this web site so you can read it and also my hometown's newspaper Arlington Star Telegram has published a story about me January 10, last year and I was on the FRONT PAGE. I felt like a star for little while. I have many nice features about me and I also have some bad things about me such is I am biggest perfectionist you have ever met (at least they tell me so). I just I am very critical of things if they are not perfect and some people that know me have experienced my criticism. If a things are not perfect I would work my head off to make it perfect and one of the things that is not perfect at all is this very web site and let me tell you that I am sick of the way it looks. But I am building a new one using Microsoft Front Page 2000 so it will definitely work and look the way I want it. You should check back in couple of weeks to visit it because I will have it linked to this web site. I also have a lot of friends that I have left behind and most of them are located in Yugoslavia and currently I am writing letters on regular basis to over a 70 pen pals in Yugoslavia. You might wonder and say, "How can you do it all??” Well the answer to that question if very easy for me to tell you with God "All Things are Possible" and that is also a name of the song from a Christian group called Hillsong Music Australia (formerly known as Hillsongs) and you will find the Hillsongs tour schedule on this web site soon too (including some pictures and tour info on Darlene Zschech, pronounced "check") so come back in couple of weeks and check it out.
