The Airplane

The Men

Who were the men that created this machine?

Two of history's greatest invenors were Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright. These two men had the "WRIGHT" idea of what they were inventing. Unfortunately, these two, even though they had invented the airplane were quite dull people.

Wilbur and Orville apparently didn't get much sunlight, and when they did go outside, it must have been cloudy or nighttime because they were as colorless as a gray day in the middle of winter. These two rarely smiled, which would explain why there are so few photographs of them. Photographs are rare of these two. They were not in the least bit glamorous. Very dull people, they were. They never even said anything at the interviews.

You would expect someone that invented the airplane to have a unique look of some sort. But Orville and Wilbur were as ordinary as can be, more even. If they were to take a step away from their astonishing and amazing invention and wandered into the watching crowd, they would be impossible to find again. They obviously didn't like to be very open about themselves; they shunned the press and never bothered to even try to "get their story across" to the public. It was quite a mystery.

Yet these two bicycle manufacturers from Ohio, gave wings to the world, despite their attitude and mystery.
