Danger signs to watch for on the road to recovery...

Feeling tired: Allowing yourself to become overly tired. If you are feeling tired your thinking/judgement is apt to deteriorate. Slow down, allow yourself to rest and sleep. Don't push yourself. "Easy does it" is a well known phrase used in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Being dishonest: This can begin with lies to others. Then its possible that you start becoming dishonest to yourself. This is called rationalizing -- making excuses for not doing what you do not want to do, or doing what you know you should not do.

Being impatient: Things are not happening fast enough. Or others are not doing what they should quickly enough.

Being argumentative: Arguing small points of view indicates a need to always be right or maybe being spiritually unfit.

Being depressed: share this with others and seek help.

Self pity: this is a luxury we alcoholics and addicts can not afford to indulge in. It could lead to "Poor me, poor me, oh what the hell, pour me" state of mind. Count your blessings and be grateful for what God has given you. It might save you from another damned desire chip.

Resting on your laurels: Prayer, meditation, a daily inventory, going to a meeting, calling your sponsor and others in active recovery, working on your spiritual fitness, carrying the message to others at every possible opportunity, and actions always based on spiritual principles are vital.
