ACADIANS

Message From: LJ427@prodigy.net (L J Chauvin) Date: Sat, Jan 8, 2000, 5:11pm (CST+1) To: A-mae-zncajun@webtv.net (Alice Chauvin) Subject: Fw: Family Info

Here's the additional info on all the
families you sent to me.  Some
explanations so hopefully the way I
typed it up won't confuse you.  The
names in parentheses behind someone's
name is their parents names.  If Steven
White could not positively prove parents, he did not list parents, so the pages you sent sometimes have parents
whereas the Dictionnaire Genealogique
des Familles Acadiennes lists none.  A
question mark behind someone's name
means the last name is unknown. A
question mark in front of a surname
means the first name is unknown.  Sic
behind an age means that's the age that
was registered and is not correct.  To save space, for d/bur, the first date is the day died and the second is the day
buried.  D/bur 5/6 Jan 1700 would mean
died 5 Jan 1700 and buried 6 Jan 1700.
B/bapt means that both occurred on the
same day and place.  I didn't put Canada or actually New France at this time
after Quebec.  Again to save sapce, if
it says only Quebec, that means Quebec
city itself.  If Quebec is preceeded by
a town, that means the province of
Quebec.  Another thing Steven White did
not do was guess where a child was born, a marriage took place, or a death
occurred.  Unless he had an actual
birth, marriage, or death registration,
he did not give a place where it
occurred.  Steven White lists the
censuses everyone is found in and using
these, there is a way to figure out
where most of the births, marriages and
deaths occurred, but I didn't take the
time to try to figure these out and only listed the places as listed by Steven
White.
