When I was visiting up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 2002 I found this sign post on a street corner. Guess Bluegrass is alive and well up there too. LOL
We are now in our 13th year of broadcasting Bluegrass Gospel Music here on Texas 99. We even have a lovely banner to help promote the show when we go to festivals in the area. Below is a pic of it at the station.
On March 4, 2006 I was very priveleged to get the chance to see Rhonda Vincent perform live in Argyle, Texas.
She is an awesome entertainer. It is no wonder she has won the IBMA Female Entertainer 7 years in a row.
Rhonda is also a very charming woman and I got the chance to talk to her for just a moment before she had to go on stage and perform. Below is a pic of myself with her.
I finally got to see Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder perform live in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. They put on a very awesome show. Below is a pic of them performing there.
I first met Ricky at the IBMA Convention in Louisiville, KY back in 2001. He is a great entertainer and a very nice person to meet. Here is his picture on my IBMA Trip Page
This is Vern Young from Lamar, Missouri. His band, made up of himself on guitar, Joe Smith on dobro and the very lovely Charlotte Mayall on upright bass. They play at a lot of Bluegrass Festivals around the nation and are very well liked by one and all.
Here is a truely awesome band's site. They are called White Dove and are from the Houston area. Go see them when you can and book them for your festivals or church meetings. WHITE DOVE

Karl Shifflet and I at Dew, Texas
Karl now has a big record contract with Rebel Records. He is doing very well with Rebel Records and has three albums out now. All three albums are great. You need to get them and add them to your library.

5 For The Gospel @Salmon Lake 1st Annual Gospel Festival, May 98
High Standard from Dallas, Texas
One time I got a phone call from a listener asking if I had any tunes by High Standard. I said of course I do. The caller asked if I would play something by them soon as they would be out of my listening area shortly. I played the tune and thought no more about it.
Then in August '97 I was on way my home from Hugo, Oklahoma. Mike, who is lead singer for High Standard told me thanks for playing their music. I said, "That's why I got it from them so it could be heard on the air. But how do you know I'm playing your tunes?"
Mike reminded me of the phone call and said that it was he who had called, requesting the music. It just goes to show you never know who is listening to the program.
High Standard was also at the First Annual Jack's Creek Festival
This group is Wise County Bluegrass of Tyler, Texas
Randall Hylton
Sadly, Randall passed away on March 19, 2001. He will be missed very much. However, his music will live on.
The Blue River Sound from Durant, Oklahoma
The Waller Family from Splendora, Texas
When I introduced a recording by this family on the air I mentioned that I didn't know where Splendora is located. A listener called to let me know that it is between Cleveland and Houston on Highway 59 and is known for its speed trap.
I told the Waller's about it at a festival and they told me that the trap is practically in their front yard.
Governor Jimmie Davis @ Salmon Lake Park Festival Sept. 5, 98. He was 98yrs young then.
Melvin Goins & Windy Mountain also @ Salmon Lake Park Festival Sept. 5, 98
The Isaacs are from LaFollette, TN. They are truly wonderful people and love the Lord very much.
Click the link below to see an autographed cover of the Sept/Oct '96 issue of Bluegrass Now which is one of my favorite pictures of them. I guess it's cause they all signed it for me.
A group from May, Texas has asked to be linked here. They are known as Cross Ties
I finally met Crossties during the Memorial Day weekend, 2001. I would highly recomend their music to you and also you can order their music from their website above. They are pretty cool people and are starting to get international attention. They moved to the Branson, Missouri area recently.
