SOUTH SAN ANTONIO, Texas is southwest of downtown San Antonio, Texas in southwestern Bexar County. SOUTH SAN ANTONIO, Texas was promoted as a townsite by Charles Fowler in 1916. A post office bearing the name of the City of SOUTH SAN ANTONIO, Texas was established in 1919; when the population reached 700.

SOUTH SAN ANTONIO was a station on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad (that railroad becoming later the Southern Pacific railroad and today the Union Pacific railroad). In the 1920s and 1930s, the City of SOUTH SAN ANTONIO housed many employees of nearby Duncan Field.

By 1930, the City of SOUTH SAN ANTONIO had a population of 3,800.

In 1944 it was, unfortunately, annexed to the City of San Antonio.

we now are circulating petitions to disannex ourselves
away from the City of San Antonio. We could today be another
Alamo Heights.. but instead we are at the bottom of the barrel
after decades of neglect by the City of San Antonio. Therefore
we sign petitions because we chose to go back to our own city..
