Ira Ford

Ira Ford was born May 02, 1834 in the state of Georgia, and died at Camp English, Lafayette County, Arkansas, August 28, 1862. His military record says he was discharged by death on August 29, 1862. He was mustered into the 13th Texas Cavalry Dismounted, March 20, 1862 at Mound Prairie, Anderson County, Texas. Regimental Commander Colonel J. H. Burnett CSA, Company Commander Captain James S. Hanks. He was buried near a Church house in Arkansas by David Franklin Wigington, one of his mess mates.
On August 21, 1855, Ira Ford married Martha Jane Allen the daughter of Jesse J. and Eliza Jane Shipp Allen. Martha Jane was born January 16, 1840 in San Augustine County, Texas and died March 20, 1909 in Crafton, Wise County, Texas. Two children were born to Ira and Martha Jane Allen Ford.
Eliza Catherine Ford was born December 12, 1858 in Anderson County, Texas and died February 02, 1949 at her home near Elkhart, Anderson County, Texas. She married David Fortenberry Douthit on September 18, 1877 in Anderson County, Texas.
Barton Ford was born 1860 in Anderson County, Texas. No record on Barton after the 1870 census.
After the Civil War, Martha Jane married David Franklin Wigington on November 02, 1865. They raised her two children by Ira Ford, and had five children of their own.
