James W. Lee

James W. Lee was born abt. 1845 in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana. He enlisted in the spring of 1861 as a private in the 4th Louisiana Cavalry, Company G, and tranferred to the 3rd Louisiana Cavalry, Company G, under the command of Colonel Henry W. Allen, when it was reorganized by the Captain of Company G, after the battle of Shiloh. The company surrendered at Gainsville, Alabama under General Forrest. James was at home on parole at the time of surrender. He moved to Texas in 1869.
