Friend R. McMahon

Friend Robert McMahon married Betty (Martha Elizabeth) Fuller, a fine old lady. Friend was a fine mechanic and was county clerk of Newton County at one time. He took Grandpa Stewert's place when he died in 1859. Friend ran a water mill at McBrides and then one at Jamestown. He sold this second Mill to the Irvine boys and moved to Burkeville where he ran a hotel in the Old Burke house. This house was built in the shape of a Z
Sons born to Friend R. and his wife were Jesse, Sidney, and Dr. Robert. Jesse was a business man in Beaumont for many years. Dr. Robert died in New Jersey. Sidney married Dr. Perkins daughter, Ethel.
Friend R.'s daughters were Lena (Helena Rivers), Mary Francis, Emily, and Betty who married respectively Jack Woods, Sid McWhorter, Jeff Woods, and Burr Liles.
