The Casey Brothers

1) Allen Casey (Allen C. Casey): Allen was born May 22, 1837 in Wayne Co., TN. He died July 18, 1866 (place unknown).

2) Hugh Casey: Hugh was born Dec. 11, 1833 in Wayne Co., TN. He died Nov. 12, 1925 in San Antonio, but I believe he is buried in Georgetown, TX.

3) J.W. (John Wesley) Casey: JW was born Oct. 28, 1840 in Wayne Co., TN. He later moved to Young Co., TX and ran a ferry across the Brazos there at a town named after him (Caseyville) which became a ghost town after a bridge went up. He then moved to Farmer, Young Co., TX and was postmaster, and a prominent citizen. He is buried in Farmer Cemetery, Farmer (Ghost Town), TX. He died Dec. 10, 1920. His footstone lists him also as a 2nd Lt. of the 27th Texas Brigade of Militia (unclear if he left his Militia post to join the regular army or what?)

4) Willis Casey (my ancestor – 2nd great grandfather): Willis was born Jan 13, 1836 in Wayne Co., TN. He died Nov. 16, 1895 in Florence, Williamson Co., TX and is buried in the Florence Cemetery.

All 4 boys were the sons of James Hill Casey (1813-1901) who was born in South Carolina, and moved to Tennessee in his youth. He died in 1901 in Farmer, Young Co., TX and is buried there.

He married Jane Turnbow in 1832 in Wayne Co., TN and fathered these boys (and other children) and migrated to Texas (Williamson Co.) in 1851, being considered a pioneer of that county, and his photograph hangs in the rotunda at Georgetown along with his wife Jane.

His genealogy/descendants, including Willis & the other boys is outlined at my Website at www.casey-genealogy.com

I have other CSA connections, including Joshua Fisher (1832-1902) who was a Private in Co. D of the 30th Texas Cavalry, CSA, and on my maternal side, I am a descendant of Col. Willis Cox Holt, 10th Georgia Volunteer Infantry, who fought in Longstreets Corps at Gettysburg and many other notable battles in the Eastern campaigns, and who was mortally wounded at the Battle of Cedar Creek (Battle of the Valley), near Middletown VA on Oct 19, 1864. He is buried in a memorial CSA cemetery on the grounds of Masanutten Military Academy near Woodstock & Winchester, VA.

All my CSA ancestors are outlined at:
