Check out Me I am going to talk about the importance of education. Now the other night while I was about to die (been sick on some flu) I was watching the Kid Genuis thing. I found it interesting as to how I didn't know HALF the questions being asked. I still think they rigged the show. Anyhow I have a PHYSICS quesiton for you here it goes:
Police Lietenants, examing the scene of an accident involving two cars, measure the skid marks of one of the cars, which nearly came to a stop before colliding, to be 80m long. The coefficient of kinetic friction between rubber and the pavement is about 0.80. Estimate the inital speed of the car assuming a level road. ANSWER IS FOLLOWING!
Okay for the answer to the problem: Mk=.80; d=80; Vi=?
Mmg=ma therefore .80 x 9.8 because, the two little m's cancel out (Mg=a). "M=Coefficent of friction"; "g=gravity" (9.8) and "a=acceleration". By finding the acceletration you can then plug it into the other formula (ViČ=2ad). 2(7.84)(80)=1254.4. Then take the sum and find the square root which is 35.4 . Making Vi= 35.4!!!
