Hero: Definition of a Hero

A hero, by definition, is someone who uses whatever talents, powers or resources to help others. In this room being a hero is only one of your options, but in general being heroic doesn't always have to mean bravery. Sometimes a helping hand of another kind is just as heroic as punching a villain. One is only limited by their own imagination.

Villain: Definition of Villain

Someone who uses their talents, powers or resources for their own personal gain or enjoyment, often to the detriment of others. This can be as simple as the occasional mugging to as complex as masterminding the destruction of the multi-verse as we know it. Overthrowing third world governments, masterminding the extinction of humanity or mutant kind, leading a group of nefarious cohorts, warping peoples minds, destroying their loved ones, and killing their kittens are all hallmarks of good villainy.

Types of Origins:

This is a list and description of some of your more common origins others exist of course, this is just someplace to start.

Altered Human/Induced Mutant:

This is someone who was at one time a very normal person but do to some series of events that person has somehow been changed in the super powered sense. They have gained powers due to a very specific event not because they were born with them. Be it a radioactive spider bite, or gamma radiated blood transfusion these people are often confused with others who are less popular in origin through no fault of their own.

Mutant:

These people are born with a superior gene known as the X gene and usually, sometime after puberty, develop strange and wonderful sometimes very deadly powers. Feared by their former peers from the time they are first discovered often their only friends end up being those of their own kind Homo Superior.

High Tech:

These people through their own inventions, scientific research of others or through numerous other ways, have gained some equipment that gives them super abilities. Flight, strength, armor, blasters, force fields, heightened senses, are but the tip of the iceberg, almost any combination of powers would be possible theoretically. See the rules of the room for limitations.

Robot/Android:

These are beings who are completely mechanical in nature, either created by man or government, sometimes alien in origin, they often possess super abilities. As with high Techs the types are endless as for as possibilities go. There are even rare varieties that house the souls or minds of former humans, though if they are even partially made of flesh they are called Cyborgs instead.

Alien/Extra-dimensional:

These beings are not illegal immigrants they are beings from other planets or dimensions. Many different types fall into this category everything from Gods to Demons to the brood. Many of these types of beings are very powerful and since they are not human they may have strange customs completely unheard of on this planet. If they are strange in appearance they will be treated with fear just like mutants.

This is just the beginning of possible character origins. I hope it will prove helpful to you in generating your own character or explaining the origins of existing Marvel or made up characters you might encounter in the X-Mansion.
