The Main Cast of Babylon 5

Captain John Sheridan, Commander of Babylon 5
Bruce Boxleitner, as the energetic Captain Sheridan, replaced Season 1's Jeffery Sinclair (Michael O'Hare) as the commander of Babylon 5 at the start of Season 2. Sheridan led Babylon 5 forces in breaking away from Earth and the corrupt legions of President Clark (End of 2nd Season), and was a key figure in the Shadow War which lasted through Seasons 3 and 4. Sheridan has been married three times, first to Elizabeth Lochley (ended in divorce), then to Anna Sheridan (who died) and most recently to Ambasssador Delenn of the Minbari Federation, to whom he is still more or less happily wed.

Commander Susan Ivanova, Second-in-Command
Claudia Christian plays the fiery Russian Commander Ivanova. She is the most pragmatic and capable of the characters, and displays a deft hand and a dry wit at every turn. Ivanova tends to be pessimistic, but remains a powerful force on Babylon 5, seeing to everyday affairs with efficeincy and aplomb. Ivanova's brother was killed during the Earth-Minbari War some years previously, and Ivanova's mother, a telepath, is also dead. Her mother's mind was gradually destroyed by PsiCorps inhibitor drugs. Ivanova hates the PsiCorps with a vengeance, especially the PsiCops that do their dirty work. One of Ivanova's friends, PsiCorp member Talia Winters, also fell victim to the fascistic Corps.

Dr. Stephen Franklin, Cheif Medical Officer of Babylon 5
Richard Briggs portrays the passionate doctor of Babylon 5. Franklin is always agonizing over his patients and forever advocating nonviolence and tolerance. He is a perfectionist, and has, over time, formed bonds with many of the crew, most notably Garibaldi. Franklin is an eternal optimist, and usually tries to dissuade aggression in search of another way.

Mr. Garibaldi, Former Security Cheif (Security is now run by Zack Allen. Sorry, I have no pics of Zack)
Jerry Doyle plays Michael Garibaldi, the down-to-earth, tactless but very effective Head of Intelligence aboard Babylon 5. He investigates nearly every unusual occurence personally, and makes impulsive moves that usually turn out in his favor. Usually. Garibaldi's methods sometimes land him in conflict with one or more (sometimes all) of the other characters. Garibaldi is the longest-running human character on the show, and his endearing rogue personality and rough humor should keep him there a while longer. Garibaldi has had some problems with alcoholism in the past, and so drinks very rarely, if at all. His only known love, Lise, was lost to him and married another man due to that problem. She lives on Mars. Garibaldi disappeared during Season 3. Shortly after his return, he resigned as Security Cheif. He is still on-station, however.

Ambassador Delenn of the Minbari
The serene, wise Delenn is played by Croatian superstar Mira Furlan. Delenn, of all the characters, undergoes the most obvious changes as the series progresses. She begins as a typical Minbari, bald with a bone crest. She enters a cocoon a the end of Season 1, and emerges a half-human hybrid with hair and a human reproductive system. She, with some help from Ivanova, becomes a symbolic bridge between Minbari and humans. Delenn, in addition to representing her people on Babylon 5, is also a member of her race's ruling body, the Grey Council. She is also co-commander of a secret scout and strike force composed of humans and Minbari known as the Rangers.

Lennier, Aide to Delenn
Bill Mumy, who some will remember from Lost in Space, plays Delenn's capable aide, Lennier. Lennier is practical and knows a great deal about a wide area of technical subjects. He is young, and a bit shy, but proves a dependable ally and friend. He is in love with Delenn, a love he knows will not be returned, and would give his life in her service. Her marriage to Sheridan is particularly painful to him.

Ambassador G'Kar of the Narn Regime
Shakespearean actor Andreas Katsulas masterfully plays the patriotic G'Kar, representative of a newly free race that was subjugated by the imperialistic Centauri Republic. G'Kar is a religious man, and dedicated to his people completely, always acting in what he sees as their best interests. He and Londo have a natural antagonism, but, as the series progresses, G'Kar finds that he can move beyond hating all Centauri. His methods have become more subtle, but no less effecitive or persistant.

Ambassador Londo Mollari of the Centauri
The irascible Centauri ambassador to Babylon 5 is played capably by Peter Jurasik. A relic of a dying empire, Londo dreams of the glory days of the 'Old Republic'. Such dreams of glory make him susceptible to corruption, which will occur as the saga progresses. Still, at heart Londo wants only the best for his people. Unfortunately, he does not really know what that is. He also searches for love, but more or less in vain. His three wives he calls 'Pestilence, Famine and Death'.

Ambassador Kosh of the Vorlons
The mysterious Kosh, Ambassador from the equally mysterious Vorlon Empire, is never seen outside his encounter suit. He can breathe our atmosphere as well as his own toxic methane, but for reasons of his own chooses to remain hidden. Kosh's ship is organic, seemingly alive. His ship remains in the cargo bay, where it has been since the day he arrived on Babylon 5. Kosh speaks the a musical tonelike translater, and speaks only in strange epigrams which are hard to fathom. The eeire voice of Kosh is done expertly by Ardwright Chamberlain. Later in the series, Kosh appropriates an aide, Lyta Alexander, a rogue human telepath who was somehow taken to the Vorlon homeworld, altered by the Vorlons to breathe their atmosphere and to boost her psychic power, and returned to Babylon 5. She now represents Kosh at most rountine functions.

Lyta Alexander, Telepath and Aide to Kosh
Patricia Tallman plays Lyta, who entered the series in the pilot, when, to solve the attempted murder of Kosh, she telepathically scanned the Vorlon. After the pilot Lyta left the station, promising to return. Return she did, enhanced by the Vorlons to beyond most normal human telepaths and able to breathe the hostile Vorlon atmosphere. She will not speak of the true nature of the Vorlons or of their homeworld, except to affirm that she knows the secret and isn't telling. As the tension between telepaths and 'mundanes' (normal humans) escalates, Lyta finds herself more and more at the center of things. She will come to lead a faction of telepaths opposed to the fascistic PsiCorps, but misunderstood by normals. Zak Allen continues to make overtures to her, but Lyta's involvement in the movement has kept her too busy to really notice Zak as yet.

Marcus Cole, Ranger
Dapper British actor Jason Carter plays the Ranger liason to Babylon 5, Marcus Cole. Marcus is witty, a great fighter, speaks Minbari, and has contacts amoung most of the underground world of B5. He serves as the unofficial eyes and ears of the command staff. Marcus joined the Rangers after the death of his brother. His brohter, also a Ranger, was coming to warn him at the time, and Marcus feels guilty that he was not a Ranger like his brother then, so he could have helped. Marcus has also made passes at Ivanova, but has so far been ignored. After a climactic battle with Clark's forces, Ivanova was terminally injured. Broken, Marcus searched high and low for a way to save her, ---and found one. He discovered an alien healing machine left over from Season 1, stored at Babylon 5. This miraculous machine can drain life force from one to heal another. It has been kept in storage because it is unstable and will probably kill the life force donor. Marcus rockets back to B5, Ivanova in tow. He hooks himself up to the machine, and . . . Ivanova makes a full recovery. Marcus tells her he loves her, and dies as she wakes.
