Vietnam Map and Geography

Vietnam stretches 1600 km from China to the Gulf of Thailand, encompassing virgin forests, rugged mountains, fertile valleys, picturesque landscape, and idyllic white sand beaches. Shaped like an elongated S or to the more imaginative a "descending dragon", Vietnam extends the length of the Indochinese peninsula bordering the China Sea in the East. It has a border with Laos, China in the north, and Cambodia in the west. Vietnam's territory includes a vast sea area including a large continental shelf and a string of thousands of archipelagoes stretching from the Tonkin Gulf to the Gulf of Thailand. Vietnam is a land endowed with great physical beauty and diversity located between 8 degrees 33' and 23 degrees 20' latitude North and 102 degrees and 109 degrees 27' longitude East. At either end of the country are two alluvial plains, the Red River Delta in the north and the Mekong Delta in the south.
