"The Dog Flea" (Ctenocephalides canis)
Surveys
of dogs by Amin (1966), Beresford-Jones (1981), Dryden (1988), Kristensen
et al. (1978) and Selim (1966) indicate the dog flea is of less importance
than the cat flea, being restricted to elevated areas in the tropics and
more temperate climates (Joseph, 1970). Dog fleas are found on dogs and
rabbits, but rarely found on cats. They will attack and feed on humans.
