TEXAS BLACKHAWKS
USAC/RS National Champions

The Blackhawks team started as a recreational league team in September of 1994. After starting their first season 0-8 and their second season 1-7 the Blackhawks pulled together to win their age division the next three seasons in a row, going undefeated two of those three seasons.
The core of the team has been together for more than two years and we have added players last summer who were dedicated to our team goals. We started playing tournaments seriously last summer and have made personnel changes as we go forward to field the best team possible.
Over the summer we practice 4 to 5 times a week to stay in shape and improve our game. Even though we have not won every tournament we have played in, we have been very competitive and our opponents all knew we were there to play.
One of our goals last summer was to make it into a national tournament, which we did by winning the Oklahoma City Triple Crown. Winning that tournament gave us a berth to our first nationals, which were held in Steamboat Springs, Co. At the nationals we placed Third and were very competitive, losing to the First place team in a semi-final game 0-1, on a goal that was scored in the closing minutes.
Our goal this summer was to make it back into a national tournament. This we achieved at the USAC So. Central Regional recently held in Houston. We went undefeated in both ball and puck tournaments on our way to the gold medals. Little did we know then that the Nationals Gold Medal game was to be a replay of the game we had just played at Houston, facing the Duncanville Team Final.
The team has a great attitude towards sportsmanship on and off the rink. Several of our players are on the Honor Rolls at their schools and achieve at academics as well as sports. The team has really enjoyed traveling to tournaments and meeting players from all over the country.
Well the season is complete now after winning fourth in puck and first in ball. The Blackhawks have earned the National Title they set out to win this summer. We would like to thank all that have helped us on our way to the GOLD! We would like to thank Spinning Wheels Rink in Denton, Block Alternatives, Larry Lacerte, Hendricks Hockey, Hockey Shop in Lewisville, Athletic Warehouse in Lewisville and USAC/RS. Last but not least I would like to thank all the parents of the team for all the support and time they have given to get us to the top.
