What is a candy kid?
A candy kid is a raver with such a positive vibe that he/she feel she needs to turn himself or herself inisde out and wear his vibe. The typical candy kid will be wearing many candie neckalaces with toys attached to them, many bracelets, perhaps a huge plastic toy wallet chain, bright colored clothing, excessive amounts of body glitter, tons of stickers, a kids backpack full of toys & candy, pants made out of faux fur, big bell bottoms, big overalls, and sometimes eye makeup.

What makes a candy kid a candy kid?
A candy kid is not a candy kid because of what he/she wears. A candy kid is a candy kid because of what's inside. There is a huge amount of positive energy inside and usually the candy kid will not give a damn who is watching him/her and will run around the rave like he/she owns it or knows eveybody there. There are ravers who are true candy kids, yet do not dress the part.

What do candy kids wear?
The candy kid's attire varies greatly from kid to kid. Some prefer the la style faux fur pants. Faux fur is a synthetic fur fabric made from polyester. The fur comes in various colors and lengths. The whole pair of pants is made from the faux fur. There may be a stripe or many stripes of a contrasting fur material going down the side of the leg. Some may choose to take already store bought jeans and sew in inserts on the sides of the leg. The insert patterns rage from 60's-80's cartoon characters (Smurfs, He-man, Snorks, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, Get-a-Long-Gang, Star Wars, Scooby-doo) to todays modern characters (Sesame Street, Winnie the Pooh, Arthur, Toy Story, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers). Sometimes the inserts will consist of faux fur as well. As well as clothes, the candy kid will have a huge amount of fluorsecent plastic bead necklaces and braclets which are called, "candie jewlery" or just "candie". The beads are bought at craft strores or toy stores. Some candy kids purchase huge plastic blocks, balls, or links to use as a wallet chain. The candy kid also wears a kid's backpack. Inside the back-pack you will find anything from candy to drugs.

Where did this fashion come from?
This style of dress originated from the ecstacy dealers of the rave scene years ago. The dealer would be the candy kid. Since they were bright and easy to spot, all the ravers would know he/she had ecstacy. Later on the fashion style caught on as regular rave attire and the link between ecstacy and the candy kid slowly began to separate.

What is the difference between a club kid and a candy kid?
The difference between a candy kid & a club kid is the style of dress. Club kids tend to be on 12" foam platforms, wearing huge feathery boas, elaborate styles of face makeup, and usually a more femenine style of dress. Club kids also dress to show off. That is the exact opposite of the candy kid. Candy kids don't dress to show off or for competition.

Do all candy kids do drugs?
Not all candy kids do drugs. Like any other raver, drug usage varies from kid to kid. Usually the typical favorite of the candy kid is ecstacy as it brings forth the inner child and brings down inhibitions. Some candy kids come to be high on the music alone.

What types of music do candy kids listen to?
The majority of candy kids favor the hard trance beats or happy hardcore. Still, candy kids are people just like you and I, so their taste in music varies from kid to kid. Some even like hip hop.

What types of people are candy kids?
Candy kids are not just candy kids, they are regular people. Some of them wear the clothes every day, others tend not to because it takes a lot of time and effort to do so every day, sometimes hours even. Some have regular jobs and some live off their parents. Some have their own apartments and some live at the rave.

What is candie?
Candie consists of plastic beads that are bought in craft stores, toy stores, and fabric stores. The kid buys a bag of loose beads and buys some elastic string and makes all the beads himself/herself. Sometimes toys are strung onto the necklaces. The beads are cheap and in-expensive and the bracelets and necklaces are given away by the kid throught the night. Although, the kid will keep the sentimental ones for him/herself.

Why do candy kids deem it necessary to wear all of that plastic jewelery?
It's simply a way of expressing yourself through color and fun. Candy kids who wear bracelets show them off as a way of saying "Hey, look, I'm a candy kid, I'm cute, and I'm fun to be around." The colored bracelets attract attention and makes candy kids either irresistible, or annoying to those that don't understand them.

What is in a candy kid's backpack?
Candy kids have a variety of objects in their backpack. Usually you will find hand & body lotion, candy, Vicks Vaporub, massagers, toys, stress balls, a book for people to write in, a pen, a bunch of energy pills, crayons, stuffed animals, a glo worm, more candie jewlery, a photo album, a portable fan, a mirror, stickers, and a variety of other personal things.

Candy kids get on my nerves with all of their glitter and happy little things. How do I GET RID OF THE CANDY KIDS!?!
You can't get rid of them. The "happiness" of candy kids shouldn't get on your nerves, and if it does, thats your own problem. Appreciate candy kids for their individuality, cuteness, and ability to enjoy youth, life, and the future for what its worth. And maybe you can learn something from them while you're at it.

I want to be a candy kid, tell me where to start!
There is no specific "way" to become a candy kid. It's all spiritual, and being capable of respecting others and enjoying the little things of life. But, if you want to join in on the more concrete substance that makes up a hypothetical candy kid, you can try:

  1. Eating lots of candy, and sharing it :)
  2. Smiling when you're happy, and trying to make others smile.
  3. Loving color, and showing it off every way you can.
  4. Going back to your childhood days (ex. pacifiers).
  5. Being creative with beads, string, color, clothes, and yourself!
