Heraclio (Laco) N. Herrera Jr. entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010.
Laco, the son of Heraclio R. Herrera Sr. and Viola N. Herrera, was born on April 3, 1949, and lived most of his life in San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School and Angelo State University. He was a faithful employee of General Telephone Company of the Southwest for over 28 years.
Laco married the love of his life, Betsy, and they enjoyed their life together for over 31 years. They have one daughter, Erica, who is forever in his heart. One of his greatest joys was attending his daughter's graduation from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Laco was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and served his Lord Jesus Christ faithfully through many activities in his church such as teaching confirmation classes and serving as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
Laco lived his life to the fullest, had many friends, had a special place in his heart for his mom, and believed that being a family man was the highest honor he could achieve in this world.
Laco is preceded in death by his father, Heraclio Sr. Laco is survived by his wife, Betsy; and his daughter, Erica. He is also survived by his mother, Viola N. Herrera; his two sisters, Charlene Bettencourt and Sister Delia M. Herrera, MCDP; and his brother, David. He is also survived by his in-laws, Jesus and Eva Gutierrez; his three sisters-in-law, Delia (Joe) Sosa, Sylvia (Bob) Dill, and Connie (Gonzalo) Rios, Jr.; and his two brothers-in-law, Robert (Carolyn) Gutierrez and Luis (Barbara) Gutierrez. Laco is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was especially close to his grand-niece, Camryn Thomas. Laco is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
The viewing will be at Johnson's Funeral Home with the wake service to follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13. The Mass of Resurrection with the Reverend Emilio Sosa officiating will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with internment to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Guebara, Alfonso Torres, Ferd Koehn, Jason Sosa, Josh Escue and Tony Herrera. Honorary Pallbearers will be Noe Acosta, David Herrera, Robert Herrera, Robert Luis Gutierrez and Eric Rios.
