NEAL DOUGAN

The last alarm rang for our beloved husband, father, brother, friend and firefighter. Barry ``Neal'' Dougan, 48, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church with burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Pastor Scooter McCurdy officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Neal was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Houston, TX. He attended most of his school years at the Liberty-Eylau schools in Texarkana, TX, and graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1968. After his marriage to Brenda Melton, his high-school sweetheart, on June 13, 1969, they moved to Dallas where both were employed with IBM. Upon their return to San Angelo, Neal was employed with the San Angelo Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT. Illness necessitated his early retirement in June 1998. At the time of his death, Neal was a Realtor, associated with Dierschke & Dierschke Realtors. He received numerous Top Producer honors and achieved the GRI and CRS designations. Welcoming Neal into heaven are his dear parents, Clinton and Marie Dougan and his father and mother-in-law, Grayson ``Tuck'' and Roxie Vernell Melton, who loved him as their son. Neal is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Brenda, two sons, Joshua of Dallas, and Joseph, attending college in Weatherford, OK. Survivors also include his brothers, Jerry and wife, Sharron, Dale and wife, Diane; sisters, Norma Wright and husband, Billy, and Judi Dougan; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be made to the Glen Meadows Baptist Church Building Fund, 6002 Knickerbocker Road, San Angelo, TX 76904. Pallbearers will be Clay Hubbard, Mike Henderson, Kim Branhan, Steve Hill, C.V. Eaton and Craig Younts.

Neal's genuine love for others was surpassed only by his love for the Lord and his family. Neal will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, his unselfish desire to help others and his compassion forhis fellow firefighters.
