I am an RN. I am in the Early Masters Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center here
in San Antonio and looking forward to having a Masters of Science in Nursing and probably teaching some and doing some
research. I have worked for the past 6 years with mothers and infants that have a dual diagnosis. Part of the diagnosis is
their addiction, and the other component is their mental illness. Most of the women came into our program from jail and had
to make a choice of coming into the program with their newborns or completeing the 5-10 sentence for usually selling illegal
substances. I am divorced. My youngest son is in college too. My other 2 sons are married and my daughter is married and
began teaching English this year at Fort Sam Houston Middle School. I am a grandmother of 3 great children, Joshua, Jacob,
and Violette. They are 8,9,and 10. I have a dog that is good company. He belongs to my youngest son, Trey and I
inherited him when he went to college. That is some of what I have been doing for 34 years. Has it really been so long?
