San Angelo Central High School
Class of '68 in '98

REUNION REPORT

The Class of 1968 began gathering Friday evening, July 24, 1998, at a local night spot. We all enjoyed seeing our "old" friends and catching up on the last five years. For some, it was their first reunion in thirty years and for those of us who had never missed a reunion, it was great to see the "new" faces. The party broke up about 1:00 a.m. when we all realized we had a breakfast to attend the next morning.

The breakfast was held at the Central High Cafeteria and from the comments that were made by classmates and faculty, this event may have been one of the highlights of the reunion. A good number of our former faculty and administrators were on hand to help us celebrate our "thirtieth." It was fun to visit with them and interesting to notice how time seemed to have stood still in regard to their appearance yet relentlessly marched on when it came to ours! One added attraction to the breakfast came in the form of two scrapbooks that had been forgotten in the basement of Carlisle Hall. Two custodians, who had been helping set up for the breakfast, mentioned they had uncovered the two books and wondered if we might be interested in looking at them. To the delight of everyone, we discovered the books had been the project of the 1967 and 1968 Student Council! Every page that was turned brought back a memory and good laugh.

In the evening, the celebration moved downtown to the city's new Paseo de Santa Angela Pavilion. The Mexican buffet was served at 7:00 p.m., and the music and dancing began at 8:00 p.m. Cathy and Clayton were again on hand to M.C. the festivities and handout door prizes. As in the past, there was not much dancing but lots of catching up on each others' lives. Talk again circulated about having a 50* birthday party in the year 2000, so don't hesitate to write, call or e-mail your opinion on this idea.

In closing, we would be amiss in not recognizing the many people and businesses that volunteered their time and donated or gave us discounts. A big thank you also to those of you who took the time to come to the reunion. Obviously, without your presence, there would be no party. Many of our friends sent cards or called with sincere regrets in hopes of being able to attend next time. Be sure and let them know they were missed. Again, it was great to see everyone and remember we are...

STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS!
