Additional Note: These pages are merely a beginning as I'm
accumulating quite a number of photos and since I plan to eventually
include some annotation with each photo presented it may take a
while. If you've sent photos to me and don't see them right away
please be patient, they will get posted......okay? Thanks.

SCREAMING EAGLE
Recon again waiting to be
choppered out.....only this was at
LZ Sally and I believe it was
around April of 1968. It looks like
most of us are watching something,
maybe some artillery or an air
strike. I know for sure it ain't no
USO show.

These are members of the 2nd
Brigade as we loaded up in
Jan. 1968 to go from Cu Chi to
Bien Hoa, then fly up to Hue-
Phu Bai and establish a new
AO in I Corps just prior to the
enemy's launching of the
infamous 1968 Tet Offensive.

Some of the guys from E Co-Recon,
1/501, as we try to strengthen up
one of those rickety old rural
Vietnamese bridges across a small
stream.
I don't recall his name but the guy
on the bridge is a Medic assigned
to Recon early on and down in the
water in the foreground is Cloer
(to the left) and "yours truly" (in
the shadows).

This photo was taken at LZ Sally
in March or early April of 1968....
not long after it was established as
the base camp for the 2nd Brigade
of the 101st. Pictured from rt. to lt.
are "yours truly" Michael
Bradshaw, Tom Soals from So.
California and Tim Anderson from
Puyallup, Washington.

No....this isn't your nude Hippie sit-
in. These guys managed to brush
up against some bushes containing
3/4" to 1" fire ants that horde by
the millions and when you brush
against them they fall all over you,
bite the hell out of you and leave
huge welts all over you. The rest of
Recon is in the surrounding jungle
providing security and I can't quite
make out who's pictured but I
believe that's Lt. Gay in the
foreground.

This is Recon at Firebase Mongoose
waiting to be picked up by
choppers and "inserted" or
"combat-assaulted" into some god-
awful place or other. FSB
Mongoose was abandoned (to the
RF-PFs I believe) early in 1968 by
the 101st and not used again.
