Turn of the Rogue Episode Guide

The X-Men are on an apparent rescue mission. Shadowcat phases up through the ground to gas out a security guard. Spyke does the same (except the phasing) on the south end. Cyclops and Nightcrawler bamf into the warehouse. Jean lowers them down, a little shaky at first. Nightcrawler is accused of eating burgers 7 days a week. Cyclops aims for Storms chains, missing horribly. On the roof, one of the guards slinks up and scares Jean. She loses her TK hold on Cyke and 'Crawler and they drop. Cyclops reaches for Storm, telling Nightcrawler there's no time. The person wakes up at Cyke's touch and it's Rogue! She proclaims "Gotcha!" and touches him. He is startled while she blasts Nightcrawler with optic beams. Cyke ends the simulation and starts asking why Rogue was used. Xavier tells him it was for the element of surprise, but Scott is still not comfortable with Rogue being used in this way. Xavier pretty much tells him to drop it and go to school.

It is the day of the Geology field trip for Scott and Jean. On their way to packing up the bus, they argue about how Rogue was used in their simulation that morning. Scott claims how are they supposed to fight her in a Danger Room sequence if they're still trying to recruit her. Ms. Darkholme overhears this in the shadows and smirks to herself. Up in the school weight room (I'm presuming), Rogue is practicing some karate-like moves. She hears Jean and Scott outside and watches them interact through the window. Darkholme comes up and says how she'll never be friends with Scott. Rogue denies even wanting to be friends with him and starts hitting the punching bag. Darkholme then starts telling Rogue about how she had heard about Rogue being used in the simulation. Rogue wonders why they would even do that. Darkholme brushes it off with another smile and drops a backpack on the ground. "Enjoy the field trip, dear."

Scott and Jean are packing up their bus when their teacher comes up and tells Jean that something went wrong and she wasn't cleared to go on the trip. She asks if she can get it fixed really quick, but her spot has already been filled. She walks away somberly, while Scott interrogates his teacher about what happened. "New student." Scott sees Rogue climbing on the bus. She makes eye contact with him and smirks evilly. She gets on the bus and all Scott can do is glare.

At the institute, Xavier is milling about in his study. It starts getting really windy, and some magnetic pulses can be heard. He's pushed back and forth across the room, while Magneto is accusing Xavier of not trusting his students. Xavier claims he trusts them with his life, and Magneto retorts, "Yes, but not with the truth!" Then Xavier is pulled into the window, which had thankfully closed, and the glass breaks.

Back on the bus on its way to the mountains, it's snowing like mad. One of the students declare that its fresh powder, but the teacher threatens if the snow doesn't taper off they're headed back. Rogue is chilling in the back, just staring simply at Scott, most likely curious of what exactly happened in the simulation. A sharp turn later, the bus is swerving out of control. Scott sticks his head out the window and creates a trench in the snow so the bus doesn't fall off the cliff. Rogue gasps at what he did, but smiles at him, knowing he did the right thing. After the bus is under control, Rogue suggests they take the snow mobiles to the cave and wait for the storm to die down. Everyone cheers Rogue on. They get off the bus and Rogue now suggests a race between her and Scott to the cave. He agrees. Rogue roughly, very roughly (meaning she almost knocked him and Paul off the side) beats them, with the girl who was on with Rogue whining that she's going to puke. Rogue races off and Scott stops for a moment, Paul says how it was like she didn't even care what happened to them. At the cave, Scott catches up. "No prizes for second place," Rogue triumphantly says (I love this exchange between her and Scott).

Logan and Xavier talk about how Mystique has been Principal Darkholme in disguise. They're trying to decide whether or not to tell the students, as Jean comes in. She is questioned about not being on the trip and Jean smugly says that room was made for Darkholme's Rogue.

Back at the cave, Rogue slips away from the class. Scott follows and finds himself staring at a beautiful, in-cave waterfall. He keeps walking and almost slips off the cliff. He turns and Rogue is there, looking darker than usual. She confronts him about the simulation that morning. Scott tries to explain to her that she is still wanted on the team. She isn't going for it. Paul comes up behind and says the class has been looking for them. Mid-sentence, he shapeshifts into Mystique. She makes a metaphor about Xavier's kids being puppets and she is the sharp blade ready to cut the strings. As she says this, she pushes Scott off the cliff. Rogue screams and looks down, but can't see him anywhere. She all but cries to Mystique about why she did it. "I'm protecting you, from him and his lies," she responds. Mystique shifts back into Paul, and offers his [bare] hand to her, asking her to come with him to join the others. Rogue cries out "No more secrets!" She pulls off her glove and grabs her hand. "Your powers are mine. Your memories are mine!" Mystique shifts back and suddenly Rogue sees it all. Mystique talking in the car to Irene about bringing her in. How she impersonated the X-Men to trick her into joining the Brotherhood. Talking to Magneto in her office. Rogue realizes that the X-Men aren't her enemy and Mystique has lied to her the whole time. She lets go of Mystique hand and clutches her head. She remembers that Scott is still down and maybe she can save him.

Scott is staring up and Mystique jumps down. His grip fails from shock of seeing Mystique, but it turns out it's Rogue. She shifts back into herself and grabs hold of Scott's hands and lifts him onto the ledge. They don't stay comfy too long because the real Mystique has recovered and is now pushing a bolder over the higher cliff. Rogue and Scott jump off the ledge into the water below. They're headed down a raging river and Scott blasts out the wall, and they land on a very unstable strip of land connecting the mountains. Scott bumps his head bad, and him and Rogue share some touching words (I hope this wasn't their attempt to make it seem like she's in love with him... Sorry, I'm true to my Remy :o). Anyway, *grin*, Rogue is very discouraged because she thought Mystique really cared for her. Scott gives her a small consolation by saying that adults are really messed up. Mystique watches from a cliff to the side of the one they fell out of.

The Blackbird is on way to the mountains. Wolverine comments that they can't see a thing and tells Storm to try harder. She retorts "I'm a weather witch, not a snow plow. I'm doing the best I can" (one of my fave lines by her... though she doesn't talk much... thats besides the point). Xavier tries to contact Scott, but he's on the brink of unconsciousness.

Mystique jumps down in the shape of a wolf. Rogue slowly drags Scott over the cliff, though it's collapsing little by little. Scott briefly hears Xavier in his head and tells Rogue. She tells him to open his eyes after she takes his sunglasses off so they can signal the others. She replaces them afterwards and continues dragging him away from Mystique. She apologizes to Scott and slips her glove off, taking his power. She shoots an optic blast at Mystique/wolf and knocks her off the cliff, but she shapeshifts into a eagle so she can fly to safety. She's flying back up to the cliff, but the jet appears and Wolverine opens the door, instantly knowing its her. He unsheathes his claws and she's flys away. He picks up Scott and Rogue holds on as Wolverine hoists them both onto the Blackbird as the final bits of the cliff collapse. Scott is pulled away to be examined, while Rogue huddles in a corner. Wolverine looks to her and asks who she's with now. Rogue chooses them and he welcomes her to the X-Men.

Back at the institute, everyone is arguing with Xavier about why they didn't know Mystique was really their principal. After everyone shares some words, Xavier looks to Rogue for her input. She reluctantly says its not her place, but after some encouragement from Kitty and Evan, she starts saying how honesty is very important. *coughs into hand 'cheesy'* (Sorry, it was a tradition for me and the bro to hollar it between our bedroom walls when he still lived here) But Scott stands up and says something about "and that's what makes us X-Men." They pose for the camera. End.
