EPISODE ONE
(December 27 - January 2)

They start off by receiving a confusing challenge.  Each person is sent two clues revealing who is before them and after them in a given order.  As a group they must somehow work out the links between their clues to determine the order of their entire team.

Because there were no official contact details listed, aussienetman is the first to act and asks for everyone to post their emails on the message board.  electric_sheep, baskio, rachett_2000 and nat_freeman_2000 are the only ones to respond back to this message on the board.  But quickly remembering the no message board rule, electric_sheep2000 thinks smartly and creates a mailing list to get communication working amongst all the players.

With the discovery of where to find their fellow team mates becoming clearer, gregcristell and mortarboard80 have mysteriously disappeared and don't seem to be communicating with the group at all.  On the other hand, danielhib is easily contactable, but misinterprets the challenge and confuses his fellow contestants!

aussienetman and nat_freeman_2000 both work hard and are the ones who come with the order they think is correct.  But they didn't work together and submitted two different lists.  The requirement for the challenge is that the groups list must be sent in by two different people and must be identical.  With only a few hours to spare shark_white_great_the sends in a list, which at first glimpse looks identical to nat_freeman_2000's.  But looking closer, one of the lists submitted had a name missing and the other consisted of a non-existing player!

With a great list submitted, the group thinks they could win the challenge, however with two rules violated, the group automatically loses the challenge.  If these rules were not violated they could have won the challenge because they got eight of the eleven clue connections correct, enough to win by one.  A number of apologies are sent amongst the group.

Up until the time the lists were submitted, the group believed not too much mole activity went on because it was only the first challenge.  After hearing their result, nearly everyone could be considered a suspect.  But how much and which of the sabotage was the mole's doing?  Midway through the week, the group was given the questionnaires and all were asked about their theories of the mole at that point.

aussienetman: "I have my hunches."

danielhib: "A person who is acting as the mole, would not want to make it very obvious, so they would post some message, but try and give as little info as possible. The only person I could think of was the one I chose"

menlover1986: "I think that aussienetman is the mole because he was the first to e-mail everyone and really started to lead everyone. I think this was a little weird but you never know. I think it is too early to guess but I will say aussienetman."

robbieazertyui: "Danielhib tried to confuse me with the challenge. He said we were suppose to find the right order of the two clues we were given (like mine would be 'twins' and then 'sidewalk' because the first word ends with an 's' and the second one starts with it) But I'm not sure if he is the Mole. Nat_freeman used the messageboard even though we weren't allowed to, aussienetman 'accidently' posted the wrong list and no one has ever heard of gregcristell. I think he isn't playing the game anymore, so I don't think he will hand in the questionnaire. That's why I think he will have to leave the game."

nat_freeman_2000: "daniel was trying to confuse everyone by saying the challenge was something different."

shark_white_great_the: "I really just purely guessed this week. Sat down and just picked somebody I would target, who didn't email much to the group, so yeah thats how I came up with it. So yeah, just hope I'm not eliminated :)"

baskio: "OK - At the moment i don't think too much mole activity has gone on but I'm a little freaked out at the moment on who to choose as the Mole!!!  For about three days I was stuck on Electric_Sheep_2000 as the mole but in the last hour I have changed my mind to Shark_white_great_the!! This is because I recived an e-mail from him telling me to copy his list please and to send it in!!! When I checked the list  the names were in the wrong order!!! According to my theory!!! It still could be electric sheep 2000 but I hope I last long enough to get more clues!!! I hope and think that gregcristell will get eliminated because he hasn't had much to do with the first challenge and I don't even know his clues!!!  I also found that it was amazing how much i was thinking about the moles identity!! All the time, in the words of Josephine I'd like to say "Mole, Mole, Mole - thats all I think about!!" I hope I stay in!!!!"

electric_sheep2000: "In fact I have no idea. I am hopping to get through to the next stage and be able to know more about my fellow competitors. My tactic is click on the answer to the question which more people belong to so I get a better chance. My key is to trick people to think I am the mole."

The group wait anxiously on the results of the questionnaire.  Who is the first to be eliminated?
gregcristell

A few thought it was mole activity, but gregcristell was genuinely out of town.  But his elimination put smiles on three faces. baskio, nat_freeman_2000 and robbieazertyui all won a bonus point in the next questionnaire for guessing that gregcristell was going to be eliminated.

EPISODE TWO
(January 3 - January 9)

Something strange happens at the start of the episode, which wasn't even a setup by the host!  Mysteriously the challenge description page is deleted off the Mole Online Website.  electric_sheep2000 claims he saw it on the site at 3am (3 hours after it was released), but between then and 6pm (AEST), the page was not retrievable and was not seen by anyone.

After a mysterious start, the team receives their challenge and is asked to split into two teams of five.  shark_white_great_the without discussion, posts up the list of Team A, which consists of nat_freeman_2000, danielhib, electric_sheep2000, aussienetman and himself.  The other five: baskio, menlover1986, mortarboard80, rachett_2000 and robbieazertyui form Team B.  Their challenge is a scavenger hunt, where they have to find 5 out of 7 web pages below that:

  • displays an animated gif of a four legged creature
  • has exactly two pop-up windows that automatically open when you visit the web page
  • has a heading at the top that somehow relates to fire (by words or pictures)
  • uses at least four different pictures/icons for links instead of using text links
  • reveals how a magic trick is done
  • gives lyrics for any country's national anthem
  • presents a health report about 'moles'
  • aussienetman shows eagerness again and discovers five web pages within the first day.  He decides not to discuss what he has found with the group.  But because he was so confident, he sends in the list straight away.  All the sites appear to fit the descriptions.  But his magic trick revealed website is only a home page and doesn't say anything about how a trick is done.  The entire group is quickly contacted back and they discover that the challenge is over for them in less than a day.

Everyone is also made aware that if anyone can find two of the requirements on the same page they will be rewarded a free pass to the next episode. nat_freeman_2000 is the first to react to this challenge and submits a website about Siegfried and Roy's White Tigers.  But again, the page did not show how a trick was done so she did not receive the pass. shark_white_great_the is the next to submit a webpage.  He sneakily creates his own page which displays the Australian National Anthem and revealing how to perform the Cut and Restored Rope.  There was nothing against the rules about creating your own page, so he won the free pass to the next episode.

At the end of the week, Baskio was responsible for submitting Group B's Scavenger Hunt list, but for some unknown reason, the list doesn't quite get to the host.  Later he realises he had sent it to the wrong address.

Eight of the group members receive a threatening email from the mole.  Some find it hillairious and some find some vital clues that narrow down their group of suspects.  The more mysterious thing is that two of the group members didn't even receive the email...

The group squeeze in just enough time for another challenge.  As it was so early in the series, it gave the group another opportunity to look out for some more mole activity.  Everyone was asked to pair up with someone who was in the opposite team for the scavenger hunt. danielhib chooses robbieazertyui, shark_white_great_the chooses baskio and electric_sheep chooses mortarboard80.  the remaining four don't decide for themselves and are just partnered up. nat_freeman_2000 with menlover1986 and aussienetman with rachett_2000.  One of the group has sent in a photo of themselves in a group shot.  Each pair must share five chances between themselves to try and guess who in the group sent the photo, as well as where they are positioned in the group shot!

nat_freeman_2000 makes two guesses, but she forgets to indicate where they are in the photo. shark_white_great_the, does the exact opposite by indicating where they are in the photo, but not the name of any contestants, so all three of his guesses are incorrect. daniehib also makes two guesses, but his partner robbieazertyui submits four!  Bad communication makes their partnership go over the five guesses so all their guesses are invalid. electric_sheep2000 hasn't heard from his partner mortarboard80, so takes a risk and makes all five guesses for his pair.  Fortunately for him, one of them is correct!  He guesses that robbieazertyui sent in the photo and was sitting in position number six.

There have been a number of individual prizes won in the last week, but the team challenges seem to keep failing...looks like the mole is doing his or her job.  The group were sent the questionnaires and were asked whether their suspicions have changed over the last week.

    nat_freeman_2000: "My opinion's haven't changed!"

danielhib: "It hasn't, because nothing has happened to suggest i should change."

electric_sheep2000: "I have some ideas and they are certainly in the first group of the scavenger hunt challenge because they were the ones that sent it in and I haven't heard anything from the others lately. I should pass the quiz with the same theory as last time going for the more obvious answers. I also got the email from the mole and I checked the time of it and the mole has to be one hour ahead of Queensland so that means it is from NSW or Victoria. Here are the people I knocked it down to: shark_white_great_the, nat_freeman_2000, danielhib and baskio."

robbieazertyui: "I think Danielhib is the Mole. I wasn't in the same team as his, but for the Where's Wally challenge he immediately chose to be in a pair with me. I think he wants to confuse me again like last week. I think rachett_2000 has to go. But I'm doubting between her, menlover and mortarboard, because none of them did anything this week for the challenge. They can't be the Mole, because there aren't three moles! :-)"

shark_white_great_the: "I believe that motarboard is the mole, mainly because he took it upon himself to deliver the wrong answers to the scavenger hunt (i'm pretty sure it was him :) )without first consulting any of the group."

The group wait anxiously on the results of the questionnaire.  But something different happens this week.  This week the elimination effects:

    mortarboard80 & rachett_2000

Extremely rare, but two people were eliminated simultaneously.  Neither of them had handed in questionnaires for two weeks running.  Good news for six people who guessed that either one of them two were going to be eliminated.

    EPISODE THREE
    (January 10 - January 16)

As two were eliminated last week, the remaining contestants overall have less challenges and less time to work out who the mole is - but there is also less people to choose from!

This weeks challenge once again calls for pairs and the group respond immediately.  nat_freeman_2000 chooses electric_sheep2000, shark_white_great_the chooses danielhib, robbieazertyui chooses menlover1986 so aussienetman and baskio are left together.

They discover their challenge is to locate three flags within a labyrinth.  Once they get out of the labyrinth they further discover the only way to win the challenge is to escape the labyrinth and post the three flags onto the Yahoo! photo album page, renamed after the already eliminated contestants.  Then they must choose a pair to share their mole clue with.  Then finally, they must fight with their partner for the free pass into the next round!

Both groups get to work almost immediately and within hours, two of the pairs have completed the challenge, almost simultaneously submitting their emails.  Neither of the pairs bother fighting for the free passes, all they want is the mole clues!  Emails are received from shark_white_great_the & danielhib and aussienetman & baskio saying they want to share their clues with nat_freeman_2000 & electric_sheep2000 and robbieazertyui and menlover1986 respectively!  Everyone had the chance to win a mole clue!  But rules are rules, and because shark_white_great_the told the host first that danielhib can be rewarded the free pass, their partnership wins the mole clue.  And because they were the chosen ones, nat_freeman_2000 and electric_sheep2000 also win the valuable mole clues!

baskio: "I still think the mole is shark_great_white_the!!! He is being more mole like everyday!!! He has a passion to win and has a sudden 'interest' in the mole!!! ie - the mole e-mail!!! I suspect him definiatly - he also became very crabby because I nearly beat him to the labyrinth prize!!!  I also thought that rachett_2000 would be leaving because she was most 'absent' from the game!!!"
The group are then confronted with another challenge.  Each contestant was sent an email stating which group they are in for this challenge (but not who else was in the group) and a coded clue.  The challenge for each person is to decode their clue to reveal part of a URL for a mystery web page.  Once everyone in a group has decoded their clue, they can combine the parts from the clue to form a complete URL.  The first to find that page could win a clue about the identity of the mole.  But of course, that wasn't the entire challenge...

Group A consisted of shark_white_great_the, robbieazertyui and aussienetman.  Group B consisted of electric_sheep2000, baskio and menlover1986.  Group C consisted of nat_freeman_2000 and danielhibshark_white_great_the shows quick action again and makes a call for his group; baskio and electric_sheep2000 quickly follow suit.  aussienetman starts to ask the host for information on their groups third member, because they have yet to find out their final group member is robbieazertyui.  At last shark_white_great_the discover he is the last member, and he finds their groups mystery webpage.  He is the first amongst all the groups to find the mystery web page, but he does not even tell aussienetman that robbieazertyui is the final member of the group or vice versa.

The moment he arrives there, he discovers the second part of their challenge.  Another coded clue is on the page and the first one in their group to solve will have the chance to win a free pass to the next round plus a prize of power.  This code is a lot harder than the individual clues because it uses a combination of all the codes used so far. shark_white_great_the is obviously the first in Group A to decode it and discovers he is given another part address for another mystery web page!  Only when he reaches there will he be able to win the free pass.  But the problem this time is the other two parts of the address have to be retrieved from the other two groups mystery pages, so all he can do is sit and wait until the rest have caught up with him.

A few days pass and daniehib is next to be heard from.  He quickly deciphers the code on the mystery page and discovers what he has to do next.  Nothing has been heard from group B, but somehow shark_white_great_the finds the final mystery webpage even without a vital part of the URL!  Two free passes in a row for shark_white_great_the and he discovers on the final mystery page that his 'prize of power' is that he has the power to prevent two players from receiving their mole clues.  The only other two players to receive mole clues in this challenge were his team mates that got him to that position.  But he says he has already made one enemy in the group, so why not another.  The two of them don't receive any mole clues and shark_white_great_the leaves the challenge happy.

They are all asked which two in the group they can say for sure is not the mole and what activity have they seen the real mole doing.

aussienetman: "Me and danielhib are not the mole - i dont know just guesses."

robbieazertyui: "Who do I think is the Mole? Still Danielhib. I wasn't in his group again, but first time I was with menlover, who I didn't hear anything from (again). But since every other contestant who sent nothing to me, has had to go, I don't think he's the Mole either. I also was in Team A with Shark_white... and someone else,  but I still don't know who. Shark was very good in solving the clues, so I don't think he's the Mole. And Danielhib mailed me he had done one guess in the Where's Wally challenge, so I did 4. The next day he mailed not to do 4 guesses because he had done 2. But it wasn't that bad for me, because it was me on the picture, and I could win a prize with it, so... I think I can trust Shark_white_great_the because he helps solving the clues very well. And secondly I trust nat_freeman, but I don't know why.... Mole activity I have seen lately? Menlover, who didn't mail me about the challenge. And Danielhib who mails that he did 1 guess."

electric_sheep2000: "I think Shark_white_great_the is a bit suspect because he keeps on winning the games but I have no evidence for nat_freeman_2000 but I have a strong
feeling it is either but I think nat has something hidden from us all."

nat_freeman_2000: "Dave because he does the challenges so well and Aussienetman.... I have no idea.  I've seen bits and pieces of mole activity."

baskio: "I'm pretty sure it's not robbieazertyui. This is because he has been right into every challenge and is truly dissapointed when we lose a challenge. I'm also confident that nat_freeman_2000 isn't the mole because I know her from the mole mailing list and I don't think I would of made it this far if the mole was a female.  Umm......Dave's will to win every free pass and try to look like he is helping us when he is only hindering us!!!!!

shark_white_great_the: "Who's the mole?  Ahh the million dollar question hey! I have it narrowed down to two people. Menlover1986 and robbieazertyui. I'm going more towards the latter.  There was definately mole activity in group B for the combination challenge. All the mole had to do was sit back and do nothing. Too easy!!"

The group wait anxiously on the results of the questionnaire.  Who has the mole fooled this time:

    menlover1986

He seemed to have disappeared from the game.  Again, two weeks running without a questionnaire submitted.  Four people leave with an extra questionnaire point and with one less suspect.

    EPISODE FOUR
    (January 17 - January 23)

The group have been together for a while now and it's starting to get a bit obvious who the mole is!  They all get told why...

aussienetman always seems to be an active group member when something goes wrong.  He has only been breaking simple rules, but consequently they lose the challenges for the entire group.  Maybe that's too obvious, or is that what he wants you to think?

baskio supposedly had temporarily lost communication with the host, coincidentally at the same time he had the responsibility to submit his groups answers.  Later he 'claims' he has been sending important things to the host using the wrong address.

danielhib has somewhat been a quiet player, but has been accused by a number of people for confusing them about some of the challenges.  Most times it has been a number of people losing the challenge for the group, not just one.  Is it all due to his confusing ways?

We only really hear from electric_sheep2000 when he's won a mole clue for himself.  He does a great job blending in with the group, especially when a group loses a mole clue.  Can he be a genuine contestant or maybe his blending in is a mole strategy?

nat_freeman_2000 was responsible for submitting a list in the first week's challenge that mysteriously has a minor error that costs the entire group a mole clue.  From then, not many of the winnings could fall back on her.  Could we rephrase Abby and say 'Never trust a female?'

robbieazertyui has been an active emailer amongst the group, but hasn't seemed to give any of his teams the winning edge in any of the challenges.  He's always the one showing disappointment after a challenge has been lost.  But is the disappointment only to hide another side?

shark_white_great_the has impressed everyone lately with his success in the challenges, though in some of the cases these wins help him, but seems to hinder others.  Maybe that eagerness to win is to stop everyone else from doing so...

As their suspicions rose about the others, they were each asked to pick two people they could trust with important information.  baskio received no votes. aussienetman and electric_sheep2000 each had one.  daniehib, nat_freeman_2000 and robbieazertyui each had two.  Some people didn't trust anyone and one trusted the host!  But shark_white_great_the received three votes and was sent important information regarding an upcoming challenge.

Each of the contestants were also asked to choose one of two challenges.  In the first challenge they would work as a group to achieve a goal, and if they won, they all get a mole clue.  In the second challenge they work as individuals in a harder challenge, but the prize is a free pass to the next episode.  The individual could also choose whether he/she would win a mole clue, plus the power to prevent the 'team' from receiving their mole clue, even if they won the challenge or whether they would allow the team to earn there clue, without keeping the clue for his or her self. danielhib, electric_sheep2000 and robbieazertyui went for the easier team challenge, while aussienetman, baskio, nat_freeman_2000 and shark_white_great_the preferred to trust no-one and go for the better prize.

The team were challenged to play casino games, where their earnings after one game each had to be at least $10.  They start with $100 and instead of discussing the money and games between themselves they decide to work solo.  They had a choice of game; danielhib and electric_sheep2000 decide to play blackjack while robbieazertyui goes for roulette. electric_sheep2000 plays his blackjack game and bets just $5 of the groups money.  His cards total 15, the dealers card is 10.  He thinks carefully about whether he should sit or draw another card. danielhib also plays his game and bets $10.  He draws blackjack!  But both games get interupted midway and the team notices that posts are being made on the photo album...

Meanwhile, the individuals were given their challenge.  They have to take a photo of themselves that includes them holding a sign saying "The Mole Online Game" plus have two of the following elements: hugging a teddy bear, water and wearing a backwards baseball cap.

Some of the contestants get to work straight away.  baskio decides to be creative and instead of taking a new photograph, he makes a collage using an old photo, integrating the required elements.  Though he runs into a problem.  He can't load his photograph onto the Yahoo! club page!  He quickly sends his photograph to the host. shark_white_great_the, as always is also in the hunt and has a photograph taken and posted onto the site almost simultaneously.

    baskio  shark_white_great_the

But who gets the prize?  baskio was first but had technical difficulties which stopped him from following the requirements exactly and shark_white_great_the followed the rules, but was second to finish.  shark_white_great_the brings up that baskio has not followed another challenge requirement.  In the photo baskio is not holding the sign, it is merely words printed on the of the photo, so it looks like the challenge can be awarded to shark_white_great_the.  But then baskio argues back and says he is not "hugging" the teddy bear, preventing shark_white_great_the from winning the challenge!

baskio quickly gets back to work and sends the host another photo, this time of a different person in the collage and placing the bear in a hugging position.  He said the first photo wasn't even of him!  Meanwhile, shark_white_great_the retakes his photo and puts it onto the club photo album, ensuring to hug the teddy bear this time.  The same thing happens again, baskio was first and had technical difficulties and shark_white_great_the was second but followed the procedures exactly.  Neither of the two are willing to give in.

Arguments continue to rise between the two of them, as they continuously bring up reasons why the other one can't win.  The host declares that it is a draw between shark_white_great_the and baskio, and they are told they must choose together for one of two new prize options: they both win the free pass, but they don't choose where the mole clues go or they win the mole clues and prevent the team from winning it.  It's the first time they agree, but they both think the free passes are more valuable at this stage of the game.

Because the casino players weren't effected by the decision, the games continue.  electric_sheep2000 decides to take a risk and draws another card.  A six makes his total 21!  robbieazertyui tries his hand at roulette.  As the group haven't communicated with each other, robbieazertyui isn't aware that he doesn't have to try to hard, because both of his team mates were lucky.  But because he doesn't know, he jeopardises $22 of the groups money and bets on 62% of the board.

The results are in from all the games.  danielhib's dealer busted, so he is paid 3 to 2 and wins $15 for the group, which is already enough to win the challenge!  electric_sheep2000's dealer also busts so he wins the group a further $5.  the roulette ball is spun and 8 black is rolled.  Even though he bet on 62% of the board, robbieazertyui loses the group $22, which means they lose the challenge overall.

Most of the contestants receive an email from the Mole.  The mole gives the contestants a part of a vital web page and the contestants must try and figure out what the rest is.  They are told telling others the URL could reveal important information about them as everyone must find their own web page.  Some of them think it's a joke from the mole, others think solving it could be an advantage.

The contestants are becoming more competitive and are willing to do anything to make the others suffer for their own benefit.  Sabotage is becoming easier for the mole, as everyone is starting to lose trust in each other.  They are all asked their observations on who will win and current mole activity:

robbieazertyui: "I hope I will win! But if I don't, I think electric_sheep or Baskio have a great chance.  electric_sheep 'cause it seems he knows much about shark_white_great_the and Baskio 'cause he's won three questionnaire points and a free pass!  I don't really know. Nothing much happened, because everyone was really quick, but Shark_white_great_the is very very quick in solving the challenges. It seems like he knows the challenges beforehand... so he can win a mole clue or a free pass and nobody else can. That's why I think he's the Mole now. He is very eager in winning, but then again I think he justs wants to take the mole clues and the free passes away, before anyone else can."

danielhib: "Who will win?  Not me!  I have done a little to make it look like me. But from the person who I think is the mole, I haven't seen much. I email people they don't reply, and all I really see is what happens on the message board. The reason I choose the person I do, is because it was my first impression, I did it with Alan so I will try it here."

nat_freeman_2000: "I think that Dave (Shark_white_great_the) will win, seems to have the patience and skill to complete the challenges. Not much mole activity on my end, except for the clue to the next challenge."

baskio: "To tell you the truth - I will win!!!! I have no doubt about it, yet if something was to happen and it wasn't me probably robbieazertyui!! Mole activity this week included Dave's persisance to win the challenge - it was a weird stalemate the way it ended - not the way any of us wanted!!"

shark_white_great_the: "I believe I can win. Although for numerous weeks now I have received a free pass, therefore being unable to tell if I am on the right track, I think I am pretty close. You had to narrow it down to three people last week after the three group challenge. That was simple to figure out. The person I think it is does sort of fit into the clues that I have received.  The Mole sent us another email this week, giving us an a bit of a head start for next week. I had no idea how to get hold of this head start until the host made it a bit clearer (thanks!). And so, it looks as if its something to do with a puzzle next week. Everyone must have two pieces I gather... My suspect also lost $22 in the casino game, the only player to lose money from it. I have no idea if he knew how to lose or not, however the mole obviously has contact with the host, so perhaps he was told how to lose.

The group wait anxiously on the results of the questionnaire.  This week the elimination effects:

    electric_sheep2000

He wins $5 in blackjack, but he doesn't win the mole game.  The first aussie to go.  But three of his fellow Aussies guessed he was the next one eliminated.

Go to episodes 5 through 8...
